2005 nissan maxima sunroof won't open

My sunroof won't open or close, however it does go up and down. So i imagine that it is not the motor but possibly the switch. i disconnected my battery to clean the terminals if that has anything to do with the problem

Had this problem all you have to do is actually open sunroof with tilt button all the way and then close it with tilt button to reset, then it should work with open switch. If you disconnect battery this happens and you have to reset it this way

Nissan rogue sunroof wont slide open. It will tilt up but not slide

1. Place the ignition switch in the ON position.
2. Push and hold the sunroof switch toward 2 . Once the sunroof has reached the full tilt position, release the switch. Push and hold the switch toward the 2 position again. After a delay of four seconds, the sunroof will make a small movement and backup.
3. Release the switch.
4. Within 5 seconds of releasing the switch, push and continuously hold the switch toward 2 . The sunroof will move from the tilt position to the open position and back to the close position.

I would check my fuses, then look at the switches and it may end up being the electric motor its self. Hope this helps Chris

My 1995 nissan maxima has a sun roof that will not close any more than half way. how do i get it shut? im not concerned with reopening it, just getting it closed. thank you in advance.

I have a maxima 1996 and when I lock doors with fob control, and sun roof is open, it will close along with doors. Try this way. Also check fuses under dash and sunroof relay.

Sunroof on 1990 maxima will not close

My '91 does the same thing. There is a thin metal wind deflector (about one inch wide with holes in it across the front edge of the sunroof opening. It should flip down to allow the glass to close all the way but sometimes it doesn't flip down all the way. Use something flat and thin like a credit card to hold it down while you close the roof. Works for me.

I am having problems with my maximas sunroof

Your motor for the sunroof is out of time. needs to re retimed. There is a procedure to retime it, but I don't remember exactly as to how its done. Would need to look into it as to how EXACTLY its done. I know that the motor needs to be completely taken off the sunroof track and that you need to push the buttons in certian sequence to retime it and I don't have the sequence in my head, but thats the problem. The motor is out of time.

SUNROOF STUCK IN OPEN POSITION

Control Module might have issues.
Remove headliner (quite a job)
Unplug the the power leads to the sunroff motor
Use spare wires to use power from the overhead dome light to the power conections on the motor to get it to move a bit.
If it does not move, reverse the wires. If it sill does not move, then the Sunroof Motor is bad.
Otherwise, Re-connect the power leads to the motor and re-try the sunroof switch to get the roof closed..

Most likely the sunroof control module has a bad diode.

2003 maxima sunroof won't close

Sounds like the sunroof motor is out of time. Needs to be re-timed. There is a retime procedure, (that I would try first) but I don't remember the whole procedure. if you still have the problem, let me know and i will get the whole thing , from the service manual.
