  • Anonymous Mar 02, 2009

That would be good thanks for the suggestion but both sides were done at the same time, they are mechanics just want to be sure the way the spring system is put back togethre the right way

Diagrams can be found in haynes manuals found at most big parts outlets. Is there a problem or are you just double checking their work?

If you have not taken apart the opposite side you have the best diagram possible right there!

1978 chev motorhome brakes are hard to push down to stop

If they are standard power brakes, check the vacuum booster. The diaphragm may be broken. If it holds a vacuum it's OK. If the brakes run through the power steering pump, make sure the belt is tight and the steering is smooth.

Where doe's that spring go on rear brake drums 1996 chevy truck every thing is at top not at bottom, star wheel adjuster?

there should be several springs. first there are (2) real short springs that hold the shoes to the dust cover/back plate. they go in the center of each shoe. then there is a short spring that goes at the bottom where the adjuster is located. there should be a hole in each shoe. finally there is a long spring that goes at the top where your brake cylinder is and this is what gets attched last after your emergancy brake levers are placed between the shoes .

1998 buick skylark rear brake repair diagram

Compare the setup with the way they are arranged on the opposite wheel. I always recommend doing one wheel at a time with drum brakes, that way you can always walk to the other side and see how the springs are arranged.
