Intermittent windshield wiper doesn't work; wiper stop mid glass

The intermittent setting does not work at all, though the other settings do work, however when I turn the wipers off they stop right where they are rather than returning to the bottom of the windshield. Could this be a wiper motor issue, or is there an electronic control part that could be the issue?

I think the suggestions that the switch is bad are likely on track. I swapped the wiper motor with a known good one, no change in symptoms. I will try replacing the switch once I locate it, and update.

SOURCE: wipers do not work in intermittent position. They do work in low and high speeds but do not automatically return to the park position. They stop wherever you turn the switch off.

i belive that your wiper switch has gone out on the intermittent side. this is a very common problem.
I hope this helps you
Thanks

SOURCE: Hello, Im having trouble with a 1998 rodeo

Try disconnecting the wiper linkage from the motor. Turn on the motor and let it run, then shut it off. Make sure your wipers are "parked" and check if the linkage will line up with the motor.

Why is my windshield wipers running in the off position, it's like they are running in the intermittent position, but it's in the off position.

When the windshield wiper / washer switch is turned to the OFF position while the wiper motor is somewhere in mid-cycle, the wiper motor module will continue to operate the wiper motor until the wipers reach the park position. If the ignition is turned off while the wipers are in mid-cycle, the wipers will stop immediately where they are. The wipers will park the next time the ignition is cycled to the ON position.

Intermittent wiper stops in middle of windshield when in use

If the wipers self-park in the other settings and after use of the screenwashers the fault is probably in the intermittent timer relay or circuitry.

If the self park is not working in the other settings the fault is probably the self-park switch within the wiper motor.

Wipers don't work in high speed and when intermittent wipers are set they stop in the middle of the windshield.

Yes that is likely a switch problem. Before you buy any parts have a shop confirm my guess.

Windshield wipers work but interminent settings don't

most likely cause is the wiper switch has gone bad and unable to 'time' the intermittent speeds.the intermittent speeds work on a resistor type system where low and high speeds add direct voltage.

Windshield wipers intermittent on 2002 Windstar

2002 Windstar wipers would come on by themselves, or not work set on intermittent, driver door lock would not work sometimes, ABS and brake light would come on sometimes, the problem was in the park switch inside the wiper motor. I replaced with wrecking yard wiper motor $44.95 w/13 month warranty. no more problem. check how many pins on connector plug, mine had 5 on the wiper motor side.Take the wiper assembly off of the metal cowl, 2 nuts, & I bolt, it is easier to snap the actuator pieces off of the wiper motor that way. God Bless JMR
