Hi there lose of power steering and the eps light coming on could be the power steering pump is broken or near stuffed so will require a new pump. The other reason is that your power steering oil level is to low and needs toping up. Also check that the drive belts driving the power steering pump are tight and not slipping.

Hope this helps.

Im having a Nissan March (K11-2001-Auto,EPS,ABS) when Im driving in suddenly "PS" red bulb comes and steering gets harder and then it goes off and ABS lights comes on, blinking PS & ABS alternatively and engine stops. Seems like a loose connection some where ..this happens only when Im driving in broken roads and turning.

Pls. tell me where to check and what can be the fault.

SOURCE: eps light is on and steering is stiff

EPS is activated only when the driver steers the steering wheel, thus reducing energy loss compared with the hydraulics. Its modular design allows for easy assembly. EPS consists of motor, electronic control unit (ECU), torque sensor and steering gear.
bar.gif Our unique control algorithm allows for improved handling. bar.gif Compact, light weight. bar.gif Capable of controlling motors from 25 to 80A. bar.gif Standardized column integrated or stand alone ECU.Basically its a electrically power steering to assist the driver to turn the steering wheel. Check the electronic control unit(ECU) for any short/burnout and the wiring should be pliable. If not then proper amount of current is not reaching the motor.
The light can light up if there a failure of the motor or any sensor is activated when this circuit has any problem.
Get i checked & repaired from their authorized Dealer and also get a service warranty for the part replaced as per norms out there.
However repair immediately otherwse you might find the steering wheel turning in haphazard manner or it could get locked while driving! .........................................sodeep

Hi my eps light is comming on and i lose power streering how do i fix it

It cannot be fixed until the problem with the Electronic Power Steering(EPS) is properly diagnosed.
The power assist system is comprised of...
  • EPS computer unit
  • Warning light on the dashboard
  • A connection to the OBD2 Diagnostic port in the car
  • A Vehicle speed sensor
  • A sensor which detects steering rotation on the input shaft of the steering rack
  • An electric motor, which provides the power steering assistance to the steering rack. Unless that motor runs you will have no power assistance to your steering.
  1. You will need to have the system scanned with the appropriate scan tool through the OBD port in the car. This will generate various fault codes which assist in diagnosing where the problem lies in the power steering system. It may be just a failed sensor that needs replacing or it might be a bigger problem.
  2. Once the fault codes have been pulled the mechanics can diagnose the cause and make whatever repairs or parts changes may be required.
  3. This is not a do it yourself exercise. You will need a mechanic who knows these Japanese electronic power steering systems and who understands the fault codes (and there are many of them on this EPS system) to diagnose the problem for you and fix whatever fault(s) has arisen.

After changing oil on 2006 jeep liberty 2x4 thats whlights en esp bas started coming on how could changing the oil cause this

co relationships, don't always prove causation.
i can change my oil with no disturbing any electronics, did you ?
are you in 4wd or 2wd,? yours is 2wd only car. sure.

did you read the operators guide in the glove box, on ESP.
The ESP can come on , for normal things.
here is an example.
i'm driving, my jeep, (2008) out of a parking lot and 1 tire hits some
gravel and the tire wants to SPIN.
so ESP kicks in and saves my life (LOL) the lamp flashed telling me
"hey buddy, watch that gravel stuff"
Started coming on, what does that mean.
its stuck on, or glows steady now, or glows full time driving ? on hard dry pavement in 2wd.?
did you read your operators guide first , in the glove box.
did you lose it.
here it is , down load it and keep it forever.

http://www.jeep.com/en/owners/manuals/

read the ESP sections.
if ESP is unhappy, get the car scanned,
scan it and see if there are DTC errors related to ABS, EPS, etc.

EPS uses many forces (controls) to stop skids.
it uses brakes, engine and transmission.

if you wish more information on how it works read the FSM>

What pump are you checking an fluid level ? Your vehicle has electric power steering an has no pump or fluid .
Your best bet , take it to a GM dealer , had recall on parts of the EPS , electric power steering (EPS) system .
The electric power steering (EPS) system reduces the amount of effort needed to steer the vehicle. The system uses the body control module (BCM), power steering control module (PSCM), torque sensor, discrete battery voltage supply circuit, EPS motor, serial data bus, and the instrument panel cluster (IPC) message center to perform the system functions. The PSCM, torque sensor, not the EPS motor are serviced separately from each other or from the steering column. Any EPS components diagnosed to be malfunctioning requires replacement of the steering column assembly, also known as the EPS assembly.

Eps in hyundai accent 2007

EPS is Electronic Power Steering.

When the light comes on, it is a warning that the Electronic Power Steering system is having a problem.

The increased force you have to use, is because the EPS is not assisting you as much as it was before, if at all.

Here is a link to a video explaining the basic operation of the electronics at youtube.

When driving my Audi A4 it seems to lose power and the ESP light comes on? What does this mean?

The ESP light refers to your car's traction control. The loss of power you feel is the car throttling back in an attempt to regain normal traction conditions. This is by design but if you car is flashing ESP under normal driving conditions, you most likely have an ESP sensor problem and should have it checked at the dealer.

When driving the EPS light on the dash board come on and the sterring become stiff. when i turn off the ignition and start the engine again the EPS light come on and off normally and the every thing return...

EPS stands for Electric Power Steering. Hyundais have electric power steering instead of belt driven pumps. But they still require power steering fluid, Check the fluid to see if it is low. That would trigger the signal to come on.
