I need to know where is the dip stick to check the transmission fluid on a 2003 vw passat

    01 passat 1.8t. How do i check the transmission fluid? and what is the procedure for changing it on this year? i know the whole its tricky to do. i have a lift and was a mechanic. I don`t have the book to show me.

There is no automatic transmission dip stick on your car. There is a long procedure to check and fill and you will need special fluid from VW. Better left to the dealer. If you want the procedure let me know.

It goes in the place where the dip stick for your transmission dip stick is. Check the level per the instructions from VW. WARNING: DO NOT OVER FILL

Warm the car by driving around the block. Find the tranny dip stick, pull it, wipe it and check it again. If the oil level in in the cross hatch area, the level is fine.

Can you tell me where to find dip stick for automatic transmission fluid for 1998 1.8 vw passat.
The dipstick is marked ATF Engine Oil and is close to the oil. Pull this dipstick out. Wipe it off with a clean paper towel. Look at the fluid on the paper towel. Transmission fluid needs replacing if it is brown. Fresh transmission fluid is translucent red.

unfortunately your car does not have a dipstick. if it is an automatic transmission, there is a specialized procedure involving the dealers scan tool to check the level.

Hi!!

Take the measuring stick from sleeve, place a funnel into sleeve (two dollars at your favorite auto parts) and add tranny fluid to level. Do not overfill.

There is a green cap that some fluid should be put in and it is at the min level i dont know what fluid goes in there it is next to the window washer fluid fill
It's the power steering top-up. Strangely it's not mentioned in the VW handbook, but the Haynes manual helps. Use VW hydraulic fluid type G002 000 or equivalent.
