I suspect a fuel pump malfunction. i would check there first. make sure the fuel **** fuse is good and well. check the lines for blockages. after you run the fuel pump/fuse/line test, go to the distributor/coil and test the spark value. i would also check wires as well. your problem should be in one of these specific areas.
Check and see if u have spark to the plugs, if you don't replace the TFI ignition module on the distributor and the pickup inside the distributor, the dist must be removed to do this coil pickup replacement.

look in the positive battery connection. it splits in two, one goes directly to the starter and the other goes to the instruments and ignition, for the description of the problem. I'd say that's where the problem is.
