When accelerating hard on 4hi it sounds like something slipping & makes a clunking noise. Seems like its coming from the transfer case. Had the chain replaced bout 6 months ago, clutches too. Everything is fine on 2wd and 4lo. What you think it can be?>

Mine is acting up as well, a mechanic friend of mine said it was the four wheel drive actuator, and it was quite common he said

It is somewhat Normal Depending on how Loud the Clunking is. This is a Common Complaint on the Chevy 4x4's. I have verified this through the Dealerships here in Oklahoma and they all say the Same thing But, I am with you, They should go into 4x4 without that Clunk for as much as we pay for them.

It seems like no one else hear at FixYa is responding yet to both your requests about clunking in 4wd.
I see two requests....in the first a 2000 blazer from Gloeckz
there is a rapid clunking in 4wd!
In the second it clunks hard going in then won't drive!

I'm no trans specialist and not familiar with repairing or troubleshooting serious 4wd problems but it sounds like this may be a problem in the transfer case.
Since no one seems to be helping you but me I'd suggest you go to a transmission shop and ask them if this is a common problem that may lead to a bad transfer case if not corrected!
Make sure you have the proper fluid in your transmission case, transfer case and differential case first or have a quick oil change place check it for you!
Hope this is helpful.
Good Luck!

If they are blinking I believe it means that there are fault codes present in the pcm. You need to get the computer scaned to see if there are an codes present. If you live near an Autozone or Checker autoparts they can scan it for free.
