Heat and air works fine in front. 3.0 V6 engine. All fuses under dash and in engine compartment checks good. Replaced rear selector switch on front dash which did not fix problem. Also, no lights on rear selector/control panel which is located on the left side of van behind the driver seat.
It's probably the cracked solder joint on the control assembly in the frony. I fix them all the time and sell them for $30 plus shipping. I always keep a spare repaired in my garage. villagers & Quests are noted for this. Don't know why you don't have lights on rear panel. I keep a spare one of those too, but it should have no affect on heater performance. Let me know if you are interested. You have to send yours back to me though.
If you are a techie, I will refer you to our Villager forum where there are files and photos on everthing about Villager & Quest issues.

see the circleed area where the bad solder joint is on the backside of the control head.

SOURCE: Rear seat removal 2000 merc Villager
We have a 1997 Mercury Villager. I don't know how different it is from ours. We cannot remove the back seat. We can remove the middle seat and slide the back seat forward. I hope this helps.

no keep in mind i cannot test drive your vehicle but here are some possibilitys and i dont know if this just happend all of a sudden either. well it is commen for the Axel shafts to break on front wheel drives over a few years and yes this will cause a cluncking noise and will not let the vehicle move. and if it has had shifting problems prior it could be the Trany itself. but i am willing to bet that the CV shaft has broke on you
hope this helps you out
please leave a Rating for me

SOURCE: looking for location of bcm on 97 astro van dash
The BCM is located immediately above the heater controls inside the dash on my 2004 Astro. I know it controls the headlights and locks but not gauges. Haynes says the gauge fuse supplies it power....but I'm not going to bank on that one.
P/N 15081796 from Napa $115
Good Luck
SOURCE: lost remote to disable alarm on 2000 mercury
If you have the factory alarm system, you can put your key into either door and lock and unlock the door, that signals the computer to deativate the alarm. If you have an aftermarket alarm system installed, it will have to be removed and the wiring that the alarm ties into must be restored to factory design.

You guys are awesome....I removed the circuit board from the A/C controller on the dash. One look at the circuit board and I could tell that was the problem. After cleaning the circuit board with alcohol I bypassed the relay with two pieces of 8 GA. wire. The guidance provided was right on target.
I only ran the A/C for about five minutes and everything worked fine. Lights on the rear panel are working again too. Hope this will be a permanent fix.
I have the same problem!! My husband has been outside trying to fix it, replaced the blower motor which didn't fix it....the air works fine (after we had the hose replaced) in the front but there is no air coming out of the vents in the back. Sometimes you can hear something attempting to move but nothing happens. This circuit board...where exactly is it located? Do you think this is the same problem?
