MY ANTI THEFT SYSTEM WONT CUT OFF AND MY CAR WONT START..I HAVE TRIED PUTTING IT IN THE ON POSITION FOR TEN MINUTES IT WORKED A COUPLE TIMES NOW IT WONT WORK.I DISCONNETED THE BATTERY FOR TEN MINUTES AND IT DIDNT WORK...BUT FROM THE BEGAINING OF IT ALL I GOT NEW KEYS MADE FROM WALMART AND A FEW DAYS LATER I START HAVING THESE PROBLEMS...WHAT SHOULOD I DO TO AVOID HAVING TO COME OUT OF POCKET WITH ALOT OF MONEY OR EVEN GOING TO A MECHANIC
Turn key on if u see system security light flashing wait 10 min when light turns off turn key off wait 5 sec repeat that same process 2 more times for a total of 30 min on the last one turn key to off wait 5 sec then start worked on a 2000 cavalier.
Didnt stat year of vehicle the newer ones have an electronic key older have chip --where are the old keys were they worn down when new keys were cut --seems keys are not correct if were cut using a worn key or they are an electronic --ignition switch not recognizing them or ignition key cylinder worn down ---and theirs not by-pass for anti theft
Why do they even have it, who's going to steal a cavalier
Does your system have a resistor pellet in the key?

SOURCE: 99 chevy cavalier theft system light on steady, car wont crank.
My 2000 cavalier has done this for 6 months. You take your key out then open your door, wait ten minutes and the system resets itself and the car will start-annoying you bet!!!
SOURCE: passlock problem
Lock your door with the keyless entry (If you have it) if not just lock all your doors, pop your hood and shut all the doors. Then remove the negative off your battery for about 30 seconds minimum. Then reconnect the negative of the battery, close your hood, unlock the drivers door with either the key or the keyless system if you have it, and try to start your car. If that does not work then it is not your theft system but a bad grounding of your battery.

NO, you will need to have Mr. Chop Shop fix it, or take it to a real mechanic and send him the bill.
