2001 kia sportage has an automatic tansmission, RWD, 4 cylinder.
i was driving at 65-70 MPH and it seemed like it wasnt getting gas
(i had a full tank) so i shifted into neutral and reved the engine, no problem, i shifted back into drive and it felt like it wasnt getting gas again. I pulled over checked oil, water, and transmission fluids and everything was fine. i shut the vehicle off waited a few minutes and started it back up. reved the engine in park, ran fine, threw it in drive and drove with no problems. soon after it felt like it was running out of gas (sputtering along and idleing irradicly ) its starts at about
5000 RPM and slowly works its way down to around 2500 RPM. it hasnt died yet.
can you give me any ideas.?
There only one problem wrong.You dont let your transmission warm up.You transmission has you warm up just like the motor.Try this and i promise when you take off it will shift like no other

alternator going bad and not enough power to run system or a bad ground from the body or battery to the motor or a speed sensor or a wire running to any of these. Find a backyard mechanic in kijiji or local bulletin board and have codes read. Do not replace any unit until all vacuums to it and wires are checked first.
check to see if Catylitic converter isn't getting real hot and is plugged.. Usually you would have smelled rotton eggs before it went and you may hear a hissing noise under the car as the gas tries to escape elsewhere since it's plugged. this will overheat an engine and ruin your headgasket - big problem with cavaliers and sunfires.
