Question about 2001 Saab 9-3

1 Answer

2001 Saab 93 convertible will not go all the way down.

Top goes all the way back like it should, but won't go entirely down into the trunk on the passenger side so that the cover can close. the hydraulic fluid level is fine, so I don't think its leaking. the drivers side goes down all the way. And there are scuffs on my soft top on the passenger side that won't go down all the way as well, i think from it being forced down. what is causing this? What'd keeping the passenger side of my convertible top from storing completely?

If you lower the back seat you will see a plastic cover on the botom of the opening. Remove the cover (6 appolstry fasteners) to reveal a metal box. The box is not actually a box but a cover for the hydrolic pump. Remove the fscrews from the lid and lift. The resevouar is clear and easy to check against the two fill lines on the side.

Here the fix the saab convertable has the famous failed ground wire of the convertable top, the line the ground in the converatable itself and yes it fails, here is what you do behind the driver side is the convertable module you must identify the ground (I think it brown but very not sure), ground the convertable control ground wire and you will be functioning in no time dont bother to repair the ground in the top just the control top module and attach it to a good ground where it is mounted

Convertible top won't close

If you look int he holes where the latch goes into, you'll see a little switch. This is not telling the car that the top is closed. You could try to "gently" pry the little arm up, or move the switch a bit (don't force it). You'll most likely find the right position for it, and it will close. Also check the pin for the motor arm. Face the trunk, open, you'll see the top boot. Peel back the weather strip in the top right of the trunk opening, and that will allow the boot to be peeled down. You'll immediately see a golden colored rod with some joints. There is a pin that falls out occasionally, that needs to be tapped back in, or replaced. If the pin is still in the rod, remember the orientation. The pin is tapered. This part is often overlooked, and causes a lot of expenses for troubleshooting.

1999 saab convertible. The top goes up and 90% of

no but also make sure theres nothing inside jamming it,or ther may be another motor that pulls it all the down, i would make sure its not hitting something in the trunk first.

Most likely the 4 top pistons are failing... there are 2 on each side and they leak over time... thye cost used generally 150.00 each and brand new 295.oo each...

93 convertible top wont go down

This happenrd to me the first few times after filling the tank. When the roof stops push the switch to up then back until movement stops then go back to down, eventually it will get rid of all the air in the system and the roof should start to work.
