I was told that it would cost over $200 to replace the o2 sensor on my van .. the check engine light came on and i had a full diagnostic test which included both mechanical and visual .. I only have 32,500 miles on her and slowly been having to replace parts .. within 1 month I had the armiture for the serpintine belt fixed for $143 when that didn't stop the problem they recommended a new alternator another $243 .. I have had Mopars , the oldest a 66 Charger .. had all parts replaced by mechanics but i bought the parts .. this included custom exhausts w/flows .. with this van i am skeptical of pricing .. so i am asking as a female car enthusiast for some advice from all you guys out there .. is $245 too much to replace this part ??
Which o2 sensor? the one on the exhaust? normally thats around 60-70 dollars depending on the vehical and very simple to replace. do you know which sensor it is?
sorry, the front sensor and thank you !
you can take the vehical to autozone or orielys and get a free check on which part you need, they can show you where its located on the van and how much it costs. its easy to relace most of the time its just a wrench to take it out and put the new one in
i am happy that you reply .. i got a second opinion from another shop and it was about the same .. the cause however is a clogged injector of sorts since no carb on these so i can replace the part but it won't resolve the problem .. Thank Darryl !

SOURCE: I have a 2005 Chrysler Town & Country with
there are no codes that say replace O2 sensors,or remove converter,Thats just somebody's guessing,When it says O2 sensor that tells the mechanic to look for trouble in that area, wiring or faulty readings,And there are four O2 sensors.
That is a tough one. Alternators do not overcharge because the alternator is bad. They overcharge because the alternator CONTROLS are having problems. The charging system in your 2005 Chrysler 300 is controlled by the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) Your vehicle needs to be diagnosed by someone who understands how this system works.
Sorry about the $129....I would raise a BIG fuss about that if they told you the alternator needed to be replaced. Apparently, they do not understand how your system works. (It is very difficult to give a correct diagnosis if you do not know how the system works in the first place.)
