The alternator belt can be changed from the top, the ps belt is best done from the bottom with the tire removed.
The alternator should have an adjusting bolt and the ps has an adjusting bracket. You loosen the bolts for the alternator and ps pump then use the adjusting bolts to tighten the new belts.

Start with it around the crankshaft, and then just go flat sides to flat sides, and ribs to ribs, and work your way around.

SOURCE: When starting our 2005 Toyota Sienna with the air

There should be an idler pulley nearby to your aircon compressor, with an adjusting bolt to tighten your belt. If the belt is tight and still squeals, there are allsorts of weird and wonderfull things that are applied to them to stop squealing. Vaseline won't hurt the rubber but it will stop the squealing...hope this helps.

2008 sienna water pump replacement

For 2008, the water pump is not driven by the timing belt. Also, the motor does not have to be lifted. The haynes manual says to pull the ac unit, alternator, and drive axle, which is not required. Also, you do not have to lift the motor. I saw this on the net, which is incorrect for 2008 Sienna.1) Drain the system of anti-freeze2) take-off the passenger side front tire to get to the access panel, using a jack stand on the body.2) remove the access panel, and you should see most of the bottom bolts of the water pump3) do not remove the serpentine belt just yet, crack the bolts holding the water pump pulley, but do not remove them. If you remove the belt, you will be fighting against yourself to unloosen them later. 4) remove the serpentine belt (see youtube - a guy has a video of this piece which is easy)5) remove the top engine mount, which has about 4 bolts6) remove the aluminum bracket surrounding the thermostat housing which has about 7, and yes, some are long. 7) remove the thermostat housing, and disconnect the 3/4 hose in the back8) remove the belt tensioner pulley, by wrenching clockwise. 9) remove the 2nd serpentine pulley10) remove the 4 bolts for the water pump pulley11) remove the 16 bolts of the water pump12) reverse your order, and you should be good to go. Also, I replaced mythermostat, when the housing was out. Good Luck !

How is the best way to replace a serpentine belt on a 2005 kia sorento

First remove the engine plastic cover by removing the bolts that hold in. Then loosen the nuts at the front of the AC Belt and Power Steering Belt. Now use a Socket set and loosen these two belts by turning the tension adjustment bolt, Anti-Clockwise.

You have to remove the first two belts (AC & Power Steering) before reaching the Serpentine Belt.

Now loosen the nut on the front of the lowest pulley before loosening the serpentine belt.

To loosen the serpentine belt, you could either remove the metal skid plate at the bottom of the engine by turning the tension adjustment bolt, Anti-Clockwise or reach down from the top and loosen it with the socket set ( quick & easiest)

Serpentine belt is getting noisy on my daughters 2005 Toyota Sienna 3.3 liter V-6, and I notice there are two belts that are both very close to the fender. It looks to me like there is not a spring loaded...

You are correct, there is no automatic tensioner for either belt. The linked YouTube video provides good guidance for replacing the belts - more so for the top one. To replace the lower belt, remove the right front tire and the splash shield to get to the lower part of the engine for the power steering belt.

Change serpentine belt on 06 sienna

  1. 1 Check to ensure the Sienna's engine is cold, then make sure the Sienna is in park, the ignition is in the off position and the key is removed from the ignition to prevent any possibility of the engine engaging during the serpentine belt replacement.
  2. 2 Open the hood and locate the serpentine belt routing diagram sticker on the side of the engine casing. Study it for a moment before removing the existing belt. It is essential the new belt be installed exactly as the diagram indicates.
  3. 3 Find the tensioner pulley, the main pulley that controls the serpentine belt, and fit a 1/2-inch socket wrench over the self-tensioner on the outside of the pulley.
  4. 4 Pull the wrench to the left to move the pulley forward, which loosens the belt, then remove the belt.
  5. 5 Compare the old serpentine belt with the new, replacement belt for length, width and number of grooves on the belt's underside. Be certain the replacement belt is the right part.
  6. 6 Fit the new belt on to each pulley according to the serpentine belt routing diagram on the manufacturer's sticker, or according to the drawing made prior to removing the old belt. Fit the new belt on to the tensioner pulley last, again applying pressure on the pulley's self-tensioner with the half-inch socket wrench to loosen the pulley.
  7. 7 Release the pressure on the self tensioner and allow the tensioner pulley to ease back into place, thereby tightening the new serpentine belt with the appropriate tension.
  8. 8 Remove the wrench and close the hood.
Thank you and good luck,
Lee

Remove the air filter housing and air hose. Set aside
Pull the 15mm bolt on the tensioner counterclockwise (towards front of car) and hold it there to loosen tension, and remove the serpentine belt.
With your 15mm wrench, unbolt the belt tensioner and remove.
Replace with new tensioner
Put serpentine belt back on.
Very easy! Be careful when releasing tension, becase if you let go of the wrench it will fly back and could hurt you.
