Use 15w-40 for the engine, ATF for the gearbox and 80w-90 for the diffs and transfer box. engine and gearbox have dipsticks for the levels, the diffs and transfer box have removable plugs for level checking, fill until the fluid comes out the level plug.

Rover workshop manual

You would be better off buying the Haynes manual that covers all aspects of the vehicle. If you can afford a Range Rover Vogue, you can afford the $30 odd for a manual

Range Rover Gearbox

didnt you get a warrenty thrown in on a £37000 car,did this occur within 90 days of your purchase,if so go to trading standards you have a 90 day warrenty by law, sounds like they took there time finding the problem so they could not be liable for the repair bill, also visit the landyzone website i use it and its a great source of help and advise, get the landrover customer care no of another rr dealer and chat to lr people themselves and go to the vosa website and check on the recalls for range rovers.

good luck
