I own a 1997 Dodge Neon. My car started to overheat while idling especially with the air conditioning on. We ended up resolving the problem by replacing the fan relay switch which is located under the battery case near the driver's side wheel well. It is a small black square sensor that is approximately 1 1/2 inches across and about a 1/4 inch thick. It was $50 dollars. However, it took us several repairs to figure this out. We first took the fan out and checked to make sure it was working. An easy test is to turn on the A/C and the fan should run if the A/C is turned on. We connected the fan directly to the battery and it worked fine. We then replaced the collant temperature sensor which is located on the engine cylinder on the driver's side under a few hoses, it was difficult to get to. The last option was to pull the PCM computer and replace it which is an expensive option. New PCM's run around $300.00. Ultimately the fan switch relay fixed the problem. Hopefully this helps!
Hello, Try starting the car, then turn on the ac. The engine cooling fans should automaticaly come one once you turn the ac on. If they don't it could be your relay or the fans.

At first the radiator fans came on and would not turn off, even when the car was turned off and the key was removed. Now the fans won't come on at all. I installed a new radiator about six months ago. Cooling system was working great until about a month ago. HELP PLEASE!!!!
