Blower fan didn't work on setting #1 on Silverado. #2 thru #5 did. Suddenly while on fan #2 the fan jumped to #5 and continued to run even after turning off ignition. Only way to stop fan from operating was to disconnect the harness at the blower motor. After unplugging the harness the motor stopped but as soon as I turned the dial on the dash the motor went to #5 and had to do the unplugged all over again to make motor stop. What goes with this????

You will need to replace the blower speed control, it is shorted.

The blower motor resistor is above the passenger side close-out panel, below the glove compartment and towards the firewall. There will be a wiring harness leading from it to the blower motor and another harness leading into it. The harness leading into it will have a 4-wire connector and the harness leading to the blower motor will have a 2-wire connector

My fan blower will not work on high speed on my chevy 2005 silverado

if you got heat on all speeds and the blower motor is working properly then you probably need a new HVAC switch.

I jump my fan it works fine i change the fan switch still the fine is not working i even check the fuse thats ok

Hello koral_farver,

One common problem that fits your description is a bad blower motor resistor.

Below i will include an image of the location of the blower motor, removal and installation instructions.

The blower motor resister is under the dashboard behind the glove box.

netvan_100.png
1. Remove the glove box.

2. Disconnect the connector labeled 2

3. Remove screw labeled 3.

4. Remove the resistor labeled 1.

5. To install reverse order.

With what you have done so far by jumping the fan, installing a new switch and checking the fuses this will but you back in business.

2004 Chev silverado speed 1 and 2 on heater control do not work. The 3 speed thru 5 works

It sounds like the blower motor resistor is going bad. It's located near the blower motor. I would also check the connector going to the blower motor resistor.

06 silverado blower fan won`t shut off finally killed battery

The connection at the blower resistor on these model years had problems with poor connections.
The increased resistance on the terminals caused them to heat up and burn. Some would go open circuit and not work at all and some would short to ground and run all the time, like yours.
As you have already discovered, you will need to replace the pieces.

2003 silverado blower fan stays on..

under the passenger side dash, right above floor board there is a wire connector. That connector is for your blower resistor. If you unhook it, the blower will stop running, hook it back up and you will have a blower. You can also remove the fuse. Point being you can use your truck. Order the new part and replace it. I can't remember how many wires went to it off hand, its rectangular, mayber 6-7or 8ish.

Blower fan only works on high

If it is working at all then the relay and fuse is good and the problem is either the little vacuum hose on the back of the control switch panel or the panel itself.

Heating Fan dosent work on the first two settings

you have a bad Blower Motor Resistor, you will most likely have to get this from the dealer, and it is located right around the blower mounted to the blower housing. Good luck and don't forget to vote. Thanks
