You may have an air pocket in your system which some times happens.  One way to get rid of it is to take the upper hose off on the engine side,  fill your system with water until it runs out from your engine block, replace the hose, start your car turn you heater on and set to hi keep the radiator cap loose until the temp start to rise then close tight.  Once the air pocket had been remover you can drain some of the water from the radiator using the lower drain plug and add antifreeze.

Water and oil mixing in my car engine vw golf mk3 cl 1.4l

Sounds like you have a blown head gasket or a cracked block, pull the plugs and see witch one is wet that will be the cylinder that is leaking.

I have a bmw318 on a 94 plate have had the water pump checked the thermostat checked and had a new radiator fitted the system runs fine when cold but when reaching normal temp the hoses become solid and...

sound to me like you have a blown head gasket, try letting it heat up with header tank open and if coolant overflows when you give it a rev up this would tend to confirm it,check also for water in oil or oil in water, water in exhaust all point to head gasket or head crack problems.

Cressida still pegs temp guage????????

1st do you loose water from the header tank or water dripping anywhere under car when stopped yes or no if yes to loss of water from h/tank then the problem is you have a Head Gasket blowing compression into the water jacket next to the cylinder, and its only small now but will get worse very soon, so get the Head removed and cracked tested and Head surface ground . OVERHEATING

Normally it is the head gasket not the manifold gasket that causes overheating, it does it by cracking and allowing water from the coolant system to be blown out of the exhust or get dumped into the sump.

When you start the car is there water coming out of the muffler

If not then dip the oil , is it like a thick chocolate milk shake

Final check is to take the cap off the radiator or header tank and see if there are lots of air bubbles coming up.

Any of the above means a shot head gasket

Ford Mondeo mk3 air con working for 5mins then blows warm

Try to change washer between compressor and compressor clutch. This is very often problem in Mk3. After the time the clutch is thinner and needs also thinner washer. Hope it helps
