Question about 1997 Dodge Ram 1500 Club Cab
1994 dodge ram 1500(5.2L) 2wd wont shift out of first gear reverse works.Could it be the sensors(input/output),solenoid.i was doing 100km and the truck jump to first gear and stayed in first gear.2 times it shift into 2nd when cold, but when I stopped it would shift down to 1st and then when I went take off it wouldn't shift out of first(2 times this happened).I drove the truck like this for 6mths.THANK YOU
Take bottom pan off clean out your pressure sensor .. tends to get mini metl flakes caught up in there wich is also a bad sign that your tranny is going out but this will buy you atleast another 2 to 3 months

The parking pin inside the transmission has sheared and is interfering with reverse as well. I would locate a reputable transmission shop.

SOURCE: shifting gears
the speed sensor is for Overdrive only, it does not shift the gears it sends the signal to the transmission control module that in turn signals the overdrive shift solenoid to engage/shift into OD.

This is called a 2nd gear limp mode -- it is a safety devise in the computor to prevent interior damage to the transmission -- the cause could be a speed sensor or a blown rear low/reverse seal inside the transmission.
