If you have the 2.2L engine, headgasket 8.0 hours, engine 18.3 hours.
The 2.4L engine is , headgasket 12.7 hours, engine 20.8.
This is if you have ALL of the right tools and have experience.

96 Firebird, Replaced water pump, fuel pump - Now blows head gasket.

Get yourself another mechanic. This guy is not doing his job. It shouldn't cost $1600 to change a water pump and fuel pump. No proper mechanic would remove a thermostat to replace the O-ring and put the old thermstat back in. It wouldn't be uncommon for the coolant level to drop after changing the thermostat. It probably only needs to be topped up. No, the motor doesn't have to come out to replace the head gasket and I don't see it costing $2500. Before you spend any more money there, take the car somewhere else and get another opinion. I bet that if you fill up the coolant bottle for 2 0r 3 days it will stop losing coolant. Hope this helps.

How to you take out and install a head gasket

If your head gasket is blown you need to cut your losses. Tons of labor for motor that could still be damaged from overheating. Put her to rest and save yourself the trouble. Next week the transmission radiator alternator starter And wheel bearings could go back to back. Loving **** doesn't turn it gold...

Replaced head and head gasket along with thermostat and water pump car still over heats

TWO- poss.head gasket on backwards or coolant sensor not turning on the cooling fan on , also you have to bleed the system which is located on the housing going to the top rad hose at the engine.

The water pump was replaced, thermostat replaced, car spews water from the overflow tube and emptys the water from the engine!

Probably either head gasket blown, or crack in head or block. Have you had the engine hot lately? Look for white smoke out of exhaust that will confirm head gasket or cracked block or head.

YOU COULD HAVE A DEFECTIVE WATER PUMP OR THERMOSTAT ALSO RADIATOR PRESSURE CAP.MAKE SURE YOUR WATER PUMP IS BEING TURNED BY DRIVE BELT.NOT SLIPPING.MAKE SURE COOLANT SYSTEM HAS BEEN BLED AND YOU HAVE HALF ANTIFREEZE HALF WATER.CHECK YOUR CRANKCASE WHEN CAR COOLS DOWN.IF OIL STILL LOOK LIKE MILK SHAKE.YOUR NEW HEAD GASKETS LEAKING.THE MECHANIC WHO REPLACED HEAD GASKET DIDNT DECK THE HEADS.THEY PROBABLY NEED SHAVED A LITTLE SO HEAD GASKET WILL SEAL.

I have some motor oil in the water and i would know if you have any idea where to start to look in this kind of internal leek

It's a blown head gasket, the whole top of the engine has to be pulled apart, and the head taken off to get at the gasket. If it's a v6 or a v8, might just as well change both, cause you can't tell which gasket is leaking.

Fiat Car Overheating

Ok, Take the overflow hose out of the overflow tank and opput the end in a glass or jar of water. Start the motor and watch gfor bubbles coming out of the hose in the water.. Little tiny smokey white bubbles mean you have a combustion leak into your cooling system. Possible head gasket seapage.good luck

Need to replace water pump on 2.4 litre sunfire gt

If you must do this yourself, I suggest that you get a guide from Chilton or Haynes at the auto parts store where you will be buying the new water pump. Since you will be draining the cooling system, now would be the time to change the thermostat and hoses if they haven't been touched in awhile. The guides will provide pictures for each step and fill in anything that I could miss. You will need to check with the parts counter and see if you need a paper gasket, RTV sealant or both and get a plastic scraper for taking off the old gasket. You will also need something to drain the old coolant into and buy new coolant to put back in. If you are taking the hoses out, get new clamps to ensure a tight fit. You might need a razor blade to cut the old ones off their fittings.
The basics of this procedure are that you will be removing the belts that drive the pump and other accessories; you will be removing both the fan and the fan shroud; you will remove the pump itself. While you are in there, it may be a good time to change the timing belt if it has one. Again, the guides will show you how to do this.
