the blower motor for the heat and air conditioner is located underneath the glove box on the 97 e420 behind a plastic panel. it's easy to get to, but more than likely its the blower regulator thats defective there is a solution to this problem without having to replace the whole unit which can cost up to $800.00. there is an s-class regulator that you put on the fan motor that will make it blow simply by splicing a few wires. there is a company in cal. that sells the regulator for under $100. bucks can't think of it right now but look up the regulator for e420 and you may get redirected to the site. drmack
