SOURCE: where is the neutral safety switch no a chevy

Generally on GMs, if it's a column shift, it's down low on the steering column under the dash, and if it is a floor shift, it is at the base of the shifter, under the shifter housing. Look for purple wires or a purple wire and a yellow wire. I don't know what year your truck is. Hope this helps!

SOURCE: what wires do I need

The wires on the Transmission Range Sensor that control the ability to crank the starter are the BLACK/GREEN wire at Pin 6 and the wire at Pin 10 which is either BLACK/GREEN or BLACK WHITE depending on your model. (build - date and transmission type)

With all that said, I think it only fair to warn you that bypassing these wires will set codes in your Engine Control Module. It is not going to like it if there is power at pin 10 with the transmission in reverse or any of the forward gears. This may also cause your transmission to not shift properly because the ECM will not know for sure what gear you are in.

Testimonial: "thanks so much for the information I will install a switch and only use it when needed and to ensure that this is my problem."

Which two prongs to connect to bypass neutral safety switch on 96 Chevy

The neutral safety switch is an important component that prevents the engine from starting unless the transmission is in the neutral or park position. If you no longer have the switch, you can bypass it by jumping the starter relay. This can be done by connecting the two wires that would normally go to the switch directly to each other.
Here's how to do it:
  1. Locate the starter relay in the underhood fuse box or the power distribution center.
  2. Find the two wires that would normally go to the neutral safety switch. These wires are usually color-coded and easily recognizable.
  3. Using a jumper wire, connect the two wires directly to each other.
  4. Turn the key to the "on" position and see if the engine cranks.
Note: Bypassing the neutral safety switch can be dangerous as it eliminates an important safety feature. It's also ******* in some states and can void the warranty on your vehicle. Consider using the bypass as a temporary solution until you can obtain and install a new neutral safety switch.

2005 Chevy Malibu would'start. Put it in dive and back to start and it started. What is wrong that I have to do that.

Maybe a bad Neutral Safety Switch.
  • Neutral safety switch sends a signal to the on-board computer to allow the engine to start and to engage the transmission
  • When not replaced, vehicle may experience no start and/or transmission will not shift out of park. Here's a link to what it look's like.

How to bypass the neutral safety switch on a 2000 Chevy Silverado Z 71 4 x 4

The purple wire with a white stripe goes to the starter from the neutral safety switch. I believe it is the yellow wire at the neutral safety switch that will have the the signal from the ignition switch for the start signal. ( Test this yellow wire with a test light while holding the key in the start position to see if it lights to make sure yellow is the correct color ) and join the wires together. This will by-pass the neutral safety switch

Is there anyway you can bypass the neutral safety switch?

there is you have to locate it depending on it being standard or automatic a neutral safety switch is a switch the creates a loop when in park or neutral (might be found on shifter or trans side) on standards they are usually on the clutch pedal engine won't crank until either in park or neutral or when clutch pedal is depressed find switch and unplug it and jump wires bypassing switch keeping the circuit closed and engine should crank over while in gear with no clutch or in any gear p r n d 1 2 ect wouldn't recommend doing this however not sure why you looking to bypass this switch but can be dangerous especially in standard vehicles reaching into the vehicle to start it forgetting its in gear it could start a take off or crank and not start but lurching forward or backward

2002 chevy impala won't start if I jump starter

Is the security light on or flashing ?
The yellow wire goes from the key switch to the neutral safety switch, then to the starter. So bypassing the neutral safety would make the starter crank the engine, but would have nothing to do with the rest of the engine.

the "neutral safety switch" could be either where the gear selector is (underneath the console) or sometimes located on the transmission itself
