SOURCE: where is the neutral safety switch no a chevy
Generally on GMs, if it's a column shift, it's down low on the steering column under the dash, and if it is a floor shift, it is at the base of the shifter, under the shifter housing. Look for purple wires or a purple wire and a yellow wire. I don't know what year your truck is. Hope this helps!

move the gear selector back and forth between neutral and reverse, but not all the way. have the same problem
SOURCE: what wires do I need
The wires on the Transmission Range Sensor that control the ability to crank the starter are the BLACK/GREEN wire at Pin 6 and the wire at Pin 10 which is either BLACK/GREEN or BLACK WHITE depending on your model. (build - date and transmission type)
With all that said, I think it only fair to warn you that bypassing these wires will set codes in your Engine Control Module. It is not going to like it if there is power at pin 10 with the transmission in reverse or any of the forward gears. This may also cause your transmission to not shift properly because the ECM will not know for sure what gear you are in.
Testimonial: "thanks so much for the information I will install a switch and only use it when needed and to ensure that this is my problem."
