2002 Pontiac Firebird acts like it ran out of gas and now won't even start. Could it be fuel pump or something else. Service engine soon light also comes on occasionally due to emmisions sensor fr

My 2002 Firebird stalled and acted like it ran out of gas. I restarted and finally seemed like iy was ok but only went several feet before sputtering and stalling and finally not starting at all. Unsure if it is fuel pump or something else. Haven't had any problems but it seems to run better after driving for several miles and engine is warmed up.

With the key on engine off listen to fuel pump,if you can not hear the pump winning ,the pump is bad

if you can hear it,it might be working but create enough pressure
you can rent a fuel pressure gauge from auto store and check the fuel pressure

I meant it might work but NOT creat enough pressure

My y 1998 firebird will not start. It turns over but acts like it isn't getting enough gas to start. What should I check and how do I check it?

How many miles? did you have hard starts prior to no start? are the type of person that likes to run low on fuel?? does the service soon light come on with key on only? likely to have a bad fuel pump..(in tank)

2002 Ford Explorer ran out of gas put gas in and won't restart. replaced fuel pump and fuel filter still won't start. Cranks but won't start

Most Fords have a fuel reset button. When you ran out of gas you tripped the circuit. Most of the time the button will be on the passenger side by the kick panel. The exact location should be in your owners manual or your local library or auto parts store will have a copy of one for your specific vehicle.

1995 Firebird After Running Low on Gas

You have most likely sucked residue in the bottom of the fuel tank into your fuel filter, This can cause it to get blocked, Try fitting a replacement fuel filter as it's most likely it's never been changed anyway.

2002 Sunfire with 2.2 ECOTEC Car acted like it ran out of gas. Would crank, run roughly a few seconds, then again acted like it ran out of gas. The next day and the next 3 days it has performed...

have the fuel pressure and volume tested with a gage.this sounds and acts like a fuel pump problem.check the fuel filter as well and replace anyways.when it won`t start but cranks can you hear the fuel pump running.listen at the fuel filler neck with the gas cap off.if you can`t listen under the car at the fuel tank you should hear it running/if not hit the gas tank and if the car starts then the pump needs replacing.you should check to make sure you are getting spark at the spark plugs to eliminate an ignition problem but i think its fuel.

2002 firebird ran out of gas, put in 2 gallons, won't start. Turns over and fires a little.

Takes a long while to get from tank to engine, and then it can flood out easily. Next time don't run out!

1987 IROC, Ran out of gas,put gas in, now service engine light on

if you have high milieage you may have sucked in the gunk on the botton of your tank when you ran out of fuel check if you can hear the fuel pump running for about 2 sec with key on engine off if you hear nothing the problem is with your pump as they will burn out if they run dry for too long,if you hear the pump check for fuel pressure if pressure low check fuel filter to see if clogged by gunk from bottom of tank.
