I have a 2006 Impreza manual sedan. Recently the engine warning light comes on and stays on. I took the car to my mechanic and they plugged in the computer and it said it was a neutral switch error. They reset it and it went away for about 2 weeks. Now its back on. What could this be ?
depending on the year, the switch is from bringing on the VVT, so when in neutral the vvt is not active, so therefore not misfiring, you can also get a fault code P301, misfire No1 cyclinder, bit this is caused by the vvt and switch depending on the year, the switch is from bringing on the VVT, so when in neutral the vvt is not active, so therefore not misfiring, you can also get a fault code P301, misfire No1 cyclinder, bit this is caused by the vvt and switch

I could not find a code for the neutral switch . The neutral safety switch only works when you start the vehicle, so it will not start in gear. I would take the car to another shop for a second opinion.

The ABS light, (Antilock Braking System), is a warning light for the vehicles Brakes. The light is on because the vehicles electronics has detected a problem and the light will stay on until you fix it. You need to get this looked at by a good mechanic AS SOON AS POSSIBLE!
Are there any other warning lights on the dashboard? You should get the vehicle scanned for Diagnostic Trouble Codes, DTC's. These give clues as to where the problem If you need to pay for this service get prices at 4 or 5 places as prices can be VERY different.
The problem for engine overheating rise due to insufficient
refrigerant. Try recharging the refrigerant tank with fresh refrigerant and
water. If the refrigerant in the tank is of poor quality then also engine overheat.
The reason for ABS light to come may be due to air in the
brake fluid line. Try brake bleeding to remove the air bubbles. Also the faulty
brake actuator line may cause the problem. Check for actuators on each wheel.
Pollution warning light comes on if the exhaust system not
works properly. Check for faulty Oxygen sensor or faulty catalytic convertor.
Had this happen to my '05 Vibe (Matrix evil clone) recently. Mechanic read & reset codes. The non-flashing Engine light showed 2 large emission leaks. The VSC could be any number of things. He said hopefully it was a false positive on the VSC... potentially expensive to fix. Lights stayed off for a couple weeks & are now back on. I'm planning on seeing him later today. Also, said stability light stayed off, it is still working. fwiw...
wait till the light comes back on then take it to autozone to get a free check engine diagnostic done. it is free. they will tell you why its coming on. could be a million different things
No, just keep an eye on it to see it does not start staying on longer and longer. The oil pressure sensor my be a little off,and at worse the oil pump is a little weak. Just keep up on the oil changes.3500 miles max.
