Dear Sir Good Afternoon, I do possess a 1985 Nissan pick model 720 king cab (gasoline). Is there a repair for the brake booster since if I want to brake the pedal becomes very hard to press. Or should I buy a complete new (or second hand) brake booster and can you indicate to me where to obtain the 2-nd hand one? My e-mail is: [email protected] and I am very grateful for you listening to my question. Awaiting anxiously on your answer, I remain, Kind regards, Erwin Warning,
Get a new one but perhaps this is not the problem brake boosters seldom go bad. press on brake pedal a couple times until firm. then start engine while holding brake pedal the pedal should move down towards floor upon start up. if this is not true then check to see if the air line from the manifold to brake booster is in good non cracked and make sure you are getting good manifold pressure as well. repair hose or manifold if your not getting good pressure then check booster again as described above

dear friend-your torque setting on the 720 is the same as the L18 and is set at 85 - 90 nm.

it could be that the master cylinder is bad or the brake booster is bad also check the vacum hose going to the brake booster if it has a hole in it it will lose pressure and make the engine lose rpms

Usually, a hissing noise when you press the brake pedal is indicative of a leaking brake booster, yes.
While sitting still, idling, have someone else push the brake and grab a piece of garden hose or something, hold it to your ear, and listen up under the dash to find out if the noise is actually coming from that area, or you could also just pinch the line with a pair of vice grips, and see if you still hear the noise.
Your brakes will not cease to function as a result of a booster leak, but if it fails completely, they will become substantially more difficult to use.
