Yes, coolant in the transmission will kill it very quickly. You need to get the transmission flushed professionally. Usually a quick lube will have a way to do this for you. Getting the trans fluid out of the cooling system is not as important but will still be a mess.

SOURCE: transmission fluid leak

Transmissions can leak anywhere there is a seal, fitting or gasket. Most common leaks are at the trans pan gasket and fittings.. However, to find a leak the only way is to get under there and look. A mid sized leak will clean off road debris and leave a track. Keep in mind that all leaks run down and that while driving this can be blown towards the rear of the vehicle. If you find a suspicious area, clean it off with a rag & some solvent and run vehicle...watch that area for seepage. Also check cooling lines to radiator. Fluid coming from inside bellhousing indicates a bad front seal (requires trans removal to repair) Fluid should be (for aw4 units) Mercon, or any quality synthetic that covers mercon application.

SOURCE: My H2 is making Chocolate Milk Coolant!

The radiator has an internal trans cooler that must be leaking, the radiator needs to be replaced and the cooling system flushed of all the trans fluid. Usually the radiator hoses and hoses going to the heater core will need to be replaced because the trans fluid will soften the rubber and make them swell. Good luck, Honda Al

2005 dodge grand caravan transmission will not shift. radiator fluid rusty color

Check your coolant for any trans fluid mixing,& ck the trans fluid for coolant, the radiator may have an internal leak (trans/ coolant), If they are mixing within the rad, radiator needs replacement. If OK then there may be 2 separate problems. The cooling system may need service or the rad is rusted and there is a separate trans problem. Ck for fluid mixture first!

When bleeding the radiator i found coolant leaked into power steering reservoir how would this happen

When bleeding the radiator i found coolant leaked into power steering reservoir how would this happen? =============================================
1. Not enough information and you have not identified the vehicle either.

2. Coolant cannot leak to the PS system. They are entirely separate systems and unconnected.

3. If you have an auto transmission then in some models there is a section of the radiator used for cooling the auto transmission hydraulic fluid . IF there is a breach in the radiator between the 2 sections then coolant can flow into the auto trans fluid and vice versa. If you find there is pink hydraulic fluid in the coolant when draining the radiator then it will be auto transmission fluid.

In that event you will need to replace the radiator and to have the auto trans serviced now or the transmission will fail if the hydraulic fluid has been contaminated.

New tranny in my 92 ssei now it has tranny fluid in the rad ???????

The transmission and engine are there own entities. Unfortuantly the radiator in some vehicles cool the tranny fluid. Its possable when the coolant lines were disconnected from the transmission or from the radiator, the seal was broken on the radiator where the line goes in from the radiator, so you wont see it because its internal. This will allow trans fluid to enter into the radiator. Be careful with trans fluid mixed with the coolant may cause engine damage. Your solution to the problem if this is infact the source would mean replacing the radiator, if you do this be sure to flush the coolant system to rid trans fluid.

Put new radiator in,and no heat comes out,Could my hearter core be froze up.

You might consider bleeding out the air you might have in your cooling system after you opened it,drain it to replace radiator.Let it cool down open rad cap start engine watch the burps of air come up when air locks are out coolant starts to swirl as it circulates might drop fluid level to have coolant on hand to top up after wards shut it of with rad cap off let it sit for as long as you possibly can any remaining air locks will burp out.Once coolant completely down put your rad cap back be sure fluid is full reservoir as well. Now see if you have heat.

I HAVE A 95 FORD AEROSTAR AND MY PROBLEM IS THAT THE TRANSMISION FLUID IS SOME HOW GOING INTO THE MOTOR IS THAT POSSIBLE AND IF SO WHAT MIGHT BE THE PROBLEM THANK YOU FOR HELPING

It sounds like you have a leak inside your radiator, if you have an automatic transmission the fluid needs to be cooled on long trips, hard loads (towing etc) or on hot days, this is accompished the same way your engine is cooled, by running lines from the transmission then through the radiator, the air going through the rad and also the coolant from the engine cools the tranny fluid then routes the cooled fluid back to the transmission. If the lines that run through the rad have a hole in them the fluid will leak out and into the engine coolant (antifreeze) and the fluid will make it's way into the engine through the engines cooling system, the other side of this is that engine coolant is possibly making it's way to your transmission and this is an even bigger problem as the coolant does not have the lubricity properties needed by your transmission and you are soon going to have operation problems with your transmission. You need to get this fixed soon and have both the engine cooling system and the transmission flushed to remove the cross contamination.

I have transmission fliud in my radiator

You need to replace your radiator and flush your cooling system, replace the thermostat and also service your transmission. Have your transmission fluid and filters replaced. The transmission fluid is entering the radiator though the transmission cooler which is built in the radiator and it has failed. Good luck and hope this helps. Keep me posted, be glad to help.
