Could you be more specific, at what point of the process does it hang up? There must be something broken or out of adjustment

Could be 2 things...
THe nipple on the hood can be adjusted higher and lower to make a looser or tighter fit...
or the release cable can be tighted but a small clamp on the radiator core support check those 2 things first...

SOURCE: The fan on my 2004 SAAB 93 convertible will not shut off.

I would suspect that the cooling fan relay ( in a relay / fuse box under the hood) is stuck. There are 2, a high and low speed relay. Pull one and see if the fan goes off. Once you have identified the culprit, see if there is an identical relay in another location that you can swap into place to verify the problem is fixed.

SOURCE: Saab 93 convertible roof won't open

Your tonneau motor is probably bad, though reprogramming the limits may fix it. You will need the factory tool, unfortunately. There is a lot of information on this webpage. Be sure to read the information relating to updates on 1995 models.

SOURCE: Saab 93 convertible 1999, how do you refill hydraulic roof

To check the oil level open the boot - at the very back remove the 4 plastic clips that hold the carpet in place. Slightly to the left of the center there are 2 holes - shine a light in the bottom and look through the top one to check the level.
To add oil - fold down the seat backrest. Remove the plastic trim - held on by 4 screws and 2 pop out plastic cllips. Undo the 8 large bolts that hold the cover in place - 2 on top and 3 on front and back. Then lift up the cover from the front edge. You will then be able to get to the resevoir - you will need a funnel to poor fluid in.

SOURCE: Saab 93 2001 front windows blow a fuse putting windows down

The window motor is working too hard go to Napa and ask for the silicon lube made for windows and lube up the window rims and guides this should allow the motor to work less hard.

SOURCE: 2001 saab 93 convertible top problem

If you lower the back seat you will see a plastic cover on the botom of the opening. Remove the cover (6 appolstry fasteners) to reveal a metal box. The box is not actually a box but a cover for the hydrolic pump. Remove the fscrews from the lid and lift. The resevouar is clear and easy to check against the two fill lines on the side.

Check fuses and relays first. Then check the wire connections at the motor. Sometimes the plugs get corroded and just need cleaned up and put back on.

How do u change struts on a 2000 saab 93

Since the struts are the important suspension parts of the car specially of the front, the job must be taken seriously and done with good tools. Also the alignment must be checked after replacing of the strut which need a good sytem.
So even though the strut can be removed and fitted like removing the strut with jacking up the front , removing the wheel assembly , removing the link and pulling out down.
But care must be taken to put back with new bushes on the balance rods, check the tie rod ends and suspension bushes.
My Advice is to get the OE component replaced by the service dealer, checked, aligned with warranty.

The drivers side headlight on my 2002 Saab won't

This is probably a problem with the orange headlight relay under the hood in the relay black box. Take the relay out and clean contacts and put back in. If does not fix, try a new relay or swap with another 9-5 to troubleshoot.

Big headlight in my 2006 saab 93 convertible is out. how do i get to it?

open the hood, reach in behind headlight. there will be a black or gray plastic ring. Unscrew the ring counter-clockwise and pull it back out of the way. Then take the bulb and socket, turn it counter-clockwise just a little bit and it will pull out and you can change the bulb.

93 convertible top wont go down

This happenrd to me the first few times after filling the tank. When the roof stops push the switch to up then back until movement stops then go back to down, eventually it will get rid of all the air in the system and the roof should start to work.
