SOURCE: Loud ticking/knocking/rattling sound when I start/accelerate

hi is it miss-firing as it sounds like a knocking noise can be anything but if you can feel it on the accelerater pedal then the noise sounds like its on the inlet valve side which would transfere the noise up the throttle body where the accelerater is located it could be something as simple as a tappet come loose to a burned valve you need to have a look do a compression test and take the rocker cover off see if theres anything come loose yates210456

SOURCE: Loud knocking noise from engine

A loud low knock? And it sounds like a disel now, sounds like one of your rod bearings is going bad. Basically, unless you want to put a new motor in it or have the one in it rebuilt, the only thing you can do is drive it till it blows. Sorry to be the one to give you bad news like this, but your motor is old. Parts are worn out. You either have to freshen it up or let it die.

SOURCE: Cold Engine Knock on 1998 Dodge Neon.

sounds like a lifter my ford f150 does the same thing when its cold but then quits when it gets warm or it could be a weak oil pump. (just some thoughts)

SOURCE: loud knocking or tapping sound when engine is cold

Take our oil pan off from under your car and there should be 4 to 5 covers over a rod bearing. wiggle each one of them and find out which one is loose. take that cover off of the one that is wiggling and get the rod bearing out. order a new one from auto zone and replace it. The knocking in your motor can end up where you will need a whole new motor. so get it done before its to late.

I am a woman learning to fix my 2002 GMC Envoy and it is knocking and the oil disappeared. I had an oil change about 2 months ago.

Could need an engine rebuild you cannot drive without oil and not do damage to the bearings.

(1999 Honda Passport) I have a knock in my engine, it is getting to be very loud and I have been told I have a lifter out. I bought the car about a month ago from a family friend who didn't need it...

Dude.. Your looking at needing a new engine. There are no lifters in a dual overhead cam engine. There are only rockers. If you have a "kncok" its more than likely a rod. That means new engine.

If you killed the engine by not adding oil, fixing the rod now is not an option. You have damaged all of the rod and main bearings. Its only a matter of time before the others fail as well.

I have a 2004 Dodge Durango 4.7. About 3 months ago I replaced the oil pump, but believe it was the oil pick up valve that was the problem. 2 days ago, the engine began knocking loudly the entire time it...

Try using a MOPAR oil filter...These cheap after market filters are allowing the oil to drip down into the pan and there is none in the top of the motor on cold starts.

How do you replace a clutch cable to a daewoo matiz

Hi, it must be done from underneath (unless you remove the entire engine), hoist up the car and work from underneath.
Drain Gear box oil.
Remove wheels, disconnect bolts and swing out wheel hubs, remove CV Joint drive shafts (both sides).
Disconnect two get change levers
Disconnect clutch cable.
Then replace it with the new one ...

Take care

Just bought a 1999 mazda mx5 2 days ago and found it has a knock type rattle in the engine that lasts about 3 seconds on a cold start. Regards Bruce. ps cars done 160,000ks.

it seems the oil is too thick. The previous owner or the dealer may have added thick oil treatment. And the pump has to work extra hard to get it circulating. Change the oil and filter. Use 10w40 oil when refilling. do not overfill. It has many miles too , so it could also be that the oil pump is beginning to get clogged.

When i start my 98 daewoo laganza it makes a loud knocking noise near the injectors.it clears after a while when it warms up.two weeks ago it seamed that the head gasket went but i used chemi-weld and it...

if you had a head gasket starting to go and you put a chemical seal in the system(is not permenent) you stand the chance of water still being in your oil. change the oil and see what happens. they are hydraulic tappets and need good clean oil.
