Fuse #11 Keeps blowing

I just had my alternator replaced and as I drove home I noticed the speedometer, RPM, Gas level and basically the entire Instrument cluster to not work. Also my windshield wipers do not work. The radio, lights and a/c all work fine. I tried to replace the #11 fuse, but when I turn the car on they immediately blow. I think it has to be wiring, but not sure where to start looking.

Start looking at the alternator replacement... I would go directly back to the shop that performed the work..ask nicely, then demand, then CALL THE BBB... they did something..left a wire loose, (not tight).. something.. Remember - it started the moment you drove off their lot!!!

SOURCE: Instrument cluster failure causes fuse #29 to blow.

ok it could be quite simple
lets look at wrong size fuse
example 15 and you need a 25 fuse
also if you did any work on vehicle its quite possible that you grounded something out wrong retrace your work and fix accordingly
bad cluster relay is another problem that would cause these problems

SOURCE: Instrument cluster not working and truck wont go

The 2002 F-250 PStroke 4x4 had the instument lamps poping the fuse intermittently .
Turned out to be a wire getting pinched btween the emergency brake lever and the release stop .
Had to remove the keft kick panel and there was a yellow wire coming from the lower harness up toward the dash . the wire was pinched /hung up in the emergency brake mechanism . Good Luck

SOURCE: Blows fuses when parking lights are turned on. Headlights work fine even running lights.

If it only happens when you turn the switchto the parking lights then it is most likely the swich that is the problem. Light swich failure appears to be a common fault with fords

SOURCE: My truck keeps blowing the instrument panel fuse.

My 2002 F350 keeps blowing fuse 45. I lose the instrument cluster (all gauges) and there is no throttle response. Sounds like a wire for the od button is shorting out in the steering column. Remove the ignition switch and column shroud and look for a bare wire. be sure and look by where the boot sits. I am just looking for more info before I try it myself. Hope this works for others.

Fuse keeps popping out (10 amps)

Sounds like you have a short in one of the components or wires that fuse controls.

Could be a short in the circuit board inside the speedo cluster. Does the fuse blow if the cluster is unplugged ?

All gauges suddenly not working

Check the fuse panel first. Has anyone been under the dash recently, sounds like a harness plug is not quite home.

Driver side Rear Brake light doesn't light up, Back lights for entire speedometer/gas meter/RPM meter/ Temp. Gauge/ etc is out, Big PORSCHE light in back doesn't work and Right Rear Signal.

You blew the MAIN BUSS Fuse, some people call it a Fusable Link. It is the part that controls the POWER to the CAR from the Alternator/Battery.

More than likely you can not even START the car....

You have to replace the Main Bus Fuse and hopefully everything will come back on.. The Reason I say Hopefully....

You could have also Fried the Main Computer and here is where it gets Expensive.

Computers control everything, Security Features, Engine, Transmission, Radio, (starting to get the picture?)

What you did was feed 12volt Power to EVERYTHING... When you touched the wires together, you put 12Volts into the GROUND system and Everything is connected to the Ground. I mean EVERYTHING....

Hopefully your Fuse did their Job and burned up BEFORE it took out anything else...

Look for the MAIN BUS Fuse and then see what other damage has occurred...

How do i change out my alternator on a Ford F-250 Super Duty FX4?

Hi,

If your battery does not recharge, then it is your alternator. Check to make sure that all your dashboard fuses are ok.

Hope this helps. Please rate my response.

My # 30 fuse keeps blowing... 99 Mercury Cougar

If it is a 7.5 amp fuse, it powers the charge warning light in the cluster and applies voltage to the alternator to make it charge.
You will need someone to trace that circuit and look for a short to ground. It may be in the cluster or in the harness.
Something else besides the fuse is making the car not start.

I have a 1993 Isuzu Trooper S with SOHC. I recently had the water pump replaced. When I drove it home I noticed all of the "Warning Lights" were on ("Check Transmission", "Fuel Tank" and others). It...

I think they put the timing belt on backwards. If your isuzu is like mine, the water pump gets changed when you do the belt, that way you don't have to go back in there, it is a job, not hard, but it takes time. If they didn't get the belt timing right, your cam will be in pieces in 11 miles. Or,,,, they needed something off your car and took it, or,,, the alternator belt is not charging, it will send the dash board into a light show, and a blown fuse will upset the tranny, and the dash board. Hope this helps.
