I just replaced the starter, and battery on my 99 cavalier. I got in the car to turn it on. It made some grinding noises and jumoed a bit, then I gave it a 30 second brake and started it again. This time, the car starter and the flywheel wouldnt disengage even after removing the key from the ignition. I was worried about burning , y brand new starter out, so I disconnected my battery, inserted a starter shim (1/64) and now the flywheel doesnt engage at all. Any suggestions? I rely on the car to get back and forth to work.

My 2000 cavalier has done this for 6 months. You take your key out then open your door, wait ten minutes and the system resets itself and the car will start-annoying you bet!!!

your cars antitheft system is trying to prevent the car from being stolen so it is shutting it offf after it starts. go back over step by step you installation instructions make sure the ring around the ignition that comes with the remote starter is taped into the exact loacation it needs to be, or the cars own anti theft system will not notice it and will try to shut car off. its an anti theft feature. if this doesn't wotk you will not be able to use this remote starter. i ran into the same problem finally got it to work poperly.

Sounds like a temp door actuator. Does the heater controls move to all positions and change from hot to cold.
