Nissan Altima 2001 Mile, Gas, and Speedometer Gauge Stops Working

After starting the car and driving after a while the cars gaugues on the dashboard begin to go out, dropping all the gauges down to zero, empty, cold etc.

Also one time when i was driving on the highway(scary) it did al the things I explained above plus the car felt like it got stuck in first gear and it would not speed up. I hope this is not a serious problem because I just spent a lot of money to replace a broken water pump!!!!

    did you ever find out if this was because of the computer or what the problem was with your care because mine is doing the same thing?

Dashboard gauges fail & engine misfires.
Does the check engine light go on??? there have a couple possible causes for your issue, one could be a clogged fuel filter, another could be a plugged catalytic converter.

Hi, the gauges on my altima all stopped working then about a mile later the engine stopped as well but you can cut it off and it will start back it is a 2001
Sound like you are saying the RPM gauge dropped then a mile later the engine stalled and was able to restart you can be looking crank sensor beggining to fail and it usually fails on the freeway without warningcansmo_126.gif

What do I do if I the gas gauge and speedometer doesnt work?
No help but my gauges stopped working at about the same time on my '98 Frontier. So far, the fuel, temp., speedometer, odometer and trip gauges don't work or some work at different times after starting the engine.
