I would guess you have and electrical problem -- dead battery ?
bad alternator? Alternator belt broke or slipping, major fuse box failure, harness wire at firewall (unplugged or melt down).
The battery and alternator may have been ok. You have a fuse or fuseable link between the alternator and battery to protect it. If you have battery voltage at the battery post and not at the alternator post, there is a break in that circuit. If the battery cable goes to the starter, the alternator wire may go from there and that could be where the fuseable link is. Fuseable links are special thin wires that act like fuses.
It sounds like the bearing is going out and when you connect it and disconnect it this places more stress when it is on thus cause it to scream .It still can work even tho it it screams but one day it will go out and you can get stuck broke down.FIX; I would take it to a qualified shop and have them replace it or you can replace it yourself just be careful to note where the wires go.Thank you for your questions
You will need to replace that plug, the Toyota dealer has repair connectors to fix this, contact your local dealer, u will need the plug repair kit or the alternator will quickly malfunction from a type of "Jerry" rigged connections
to check alternator, undo batt cable while car is running if car dies alternator is bad. replace alternator (some are bad from factory) cars dont need battery to run just to start.
I'm still not inclined to look past the area of the alternator. Check out the wiring going to the plug for the alternator for any signs of damage or broken insulation. Also, have an auto parts store test the alternator and while they are checking alternator output, move the wires around a litte and see if the output changes any. It sounds like a wiring problem to me. Hope this helps and good luck.
Hello, It would appear that your truck has a bad ground connection between either the battery to the engine or a bad connection /wire between the engine and the body frame (most likely). the wire probably broke a long time ago and just by luck and mechanics the connection was made but now the vehicle is older the problem is getting worse. My best solution is to run a new wire between the body frame and the engine -that usually solves most issues. Make sure the contact points are super clean, down to bare metal on both ends!
I need more information please, bad wiring... not enough will need to know more, such as, The wires to the alternator are bad, previous owner did a bad wiring job to the alternator, or i messed up the wiring to the alternator and need some advice.
