High oil pressure and knocking in the engine

I drove 200 miles problem free turn the truck off for an hour went out and started the truck my oil pressure climbed over 550 kpa and engine began knocking I have changed the oil filter and oil but the problem remains the same. Anyone have any ideas about this one? when i start my blazer i occassionally have a knocking sound for a few seconds then it goes away. after it goes away everything seems normal. is this the same problem? what do i need to do? plenty of oil in engine. right grade. where should oil pressure be?

I had same exact problem. Blazer's fuel pumps that are located inside the gas tank go bad. It's common and the tow truck driver identified the problem because he had seen it so many times.

My car is a 2006 Suzuki forenza manual with 67k miles on it. It just had an oil change a few months ago with a new filter as well. I didn't drive the car for a few days while the temperature was...

Suzuki should have stayed with just motorcycles. Anyway, You just had the oil changed. Check and see if they changed the filter also. They may have forgot or were just to lazy. Just a chance the oil filter is bad, I would replace it again(is the oil clean on the dipstick?). Add a higher viscosity oil. At 67,000 miles, you would have to drive dirt roads all the time, with no air filter to get sludge to clog the head ports. Which is slow drain of oil to the pan. The oil pump? well it could be, most likely not. I would say the oil sending unit is bad, but the knocking noise kind of throws that off. Knocking is bad, if it happens again, pull off and shut the engine down. One other thing to watch is the temperature gauge. getting really hot will cause knocking. Check coolant level and the thermostat.

Engine Knocking.

I would expect the engine is damaged.
You'll need to check the oil pressure and try to narrow down the area where the sound is coming from to proceed.
A very loud knock is probably a piston or rod bearing.

I've spoken to several mechanics on my Explorer. I lost oil pressure and drove it home from work around 30 miles, it started knocking really bad. I had just changed the oil, they are stating I wou

Yes, I agree. Overhaul, or new engine time. Loud knocking indicates your crankshaft bearings are toast-it won't be long before a piston rod goes through the block, or the engine siezes up. Overhauling an engine with a bad knocking means a complete teardown and rebuild-very time-consuming, labor intensive, and very, very expensive. You might want to consider a used replacement engine with low miles as a cheaper alternative. Good luck.

2000 ferrarri 456 gt m-engine code was in history of maf airflow meter left side -ferrari dealer hasswitched from left to right and still has problem. Check engine lite only came on once since driving...

According to what you explain, there is some maf sensor defective or disconnected, the ferrari engine has high compression and forces the fuel to mix with the engine oil, this produces loss of oil pressure.
Check if the oil smells of fuel, check the sensor connections, also check the engine controller

2003 Taurus. Oil light came on. Checked level. Good. Drove another 5 miles, now have engine knock on top side of motor. Thought maybe oil pump malfunction. In the middle of nowhere, drove 50 miles home....

Before driving it anymore I would have someone test the actual oil pressure using a mechanical test gauge to see how much , or little, oil pressure you actually have. The knocking noise could be a hydraulic lifter that is partially collapsed due to low oil pressure or a rod bearing that has been damaged from low oil pressure. If it is just a lifter that is making noise then there's a pretty good chance that the lifter will quiet back down once the oil pressure is normal again. If it turns out that your oil pressure is normal both at an idle and at highway speeds then the noise may be unrelated. You can cause some serious damage by continuing to operate any engine that is low on oil pressure even if the dipstick shows it to be full of oil. Hope this helps and good luck!

A/T Oil Temp and check engin controls on.What can

to get some ideas of the cost first run the fault codes to determine the problem
doubt if it is an oil pump as you drove home
could be a pressure regulator passing excessive oil and heating it up, not enough coolant in the radiator and you have an over heating problem, excessive oil in the transmission

High Oil Pressure

most likely u just have a defective oil pressure gauge sending unit on the engine, this is common on all GM cars and trucks., fairly cheap to replace.

High oil pressure and knocking in the engine

There is a pressure relief valve in the oil pump, it is stuck closed, this happens now and then, seen it 2 times, since the oil pump is a positive displacement pump it can produce 100's of pounds of pressure, the reason for the noise is that u have allot OF pressure but very little volume, the bearings are being starved for lubrication, replace the oil pump, DO NOT DRIVE THE TRUCK, U WILL BURN OUT THE ROD AND CRANK BEARINGS.

Oil light on 99' Jetta TDI

Hi,
The "oil light" is actually a "low oil pressure" light, and not a "low oil level" light. I would get it checked out at a garage asap.
Did they change the filter at the same time? D
