With the key in the ignition (but not turned), press and hold the Odometer Reset Button (0.0) on the right hand side of the panel. While still holding that button, turn the key (although not far enough to start the engine) and then press and hold the Minute button on the left side of the instrument panel. Release both buttons at the same time. Try to reset the light as close to the actual service time as possible, because you don't want to risk any problems or confusion. I hope this helps.

Its to let you know you car is due for service. It set to turn on by milage. This seems to be the most common way of resetting the service reminder lights. Should also be the same for Jetta. Sit in the driver's seat of the Passat and close all the doors. Position the trip/odometer button to display the odometer mileage reading, then hold it down with the forefinger on your left hand. Turn the ignition key to the "key-on/engine-off" position to turn on all the power options for the Passat without actually starting the engine. At this point, a service indicator light will display (in the form of a wrench). Press the minute adjustment button on the clock (or turn the knob clockwise on European manufactured Passats) and release the trip/odometer button.
