About a week before car stop starting when you start the car you would have to floor it to keep it running. if you drive it for a couple of minutes floored it barely moves but then it drives like normal. Then one day drove it and it barely moved the whole time. turned it off and cant get it started anymore. It cranks it turns it wants to start. Have changed fuel regulator fuel filter pcv valve spark plugs map sensor. The icm module tested good. Coil packs are good. Replaced one of the coil packs. It also backfires once or twice from under the hood from the air filter. Please help!!!! Thank you
Make sure the battery has a full charge. If it cranks good but won't start, have a helper crank it while you visually check for spark at the spark plugs. If spark everywhere, use a gage and check proper fuel pressure, 41--47 psi. Check that the pressure will hold for a bit with everything off. Also, check fuel injector pulse.
Fuel--spark--compression proper amounts at the proper time.
Check fuel pump

Sounds like it has jumped timing, dont know which engine you have so could be chain or belt.

Check your fuel pressure, and or injectors. You may have too much fuel getting into the engine causing it to burn rich and overheat the converters.

It will probably be sticking throttle linkage, or a faulty idle control sensor.

I know you mentioned the EGR valve has been replaced, but you may have a bad 'new' part. I know the car is electronic, but has anyone checked its ignition timing (timing belt been looked at, I know it only has 77k on it). Is the fuel pressure regulator OK and it vacumm supply?
