Question about 1995 Chevrolet Astro

1 Answer

1996 astro stalling/stalls

I have a 1996 astro van. The van has a new fuel pump, fuel filter and has had a recent tune-up. The van stalls, at times, while I'm taking (stop light). It also wants to stall while it's running. Can anyone tell me what the problem might be? Now, recently my right signal light flashes very fast (left flashes normally) and the back hatch has been opening without the button being pushed (I have pushed the button to open it but it won't open at that time, then it opens later). Is there any way the stalling has anything to do with the hatch and lights?

Right turn signal - activate turn signal and check to see if bulb (front and rear) are flashing. If not it will affect the flashing timing. Replace bulb. As for stalling, may yet be sediment/gunk in tank that is clogging new fuel pump filter and inline filter. Or an idle/throttle position sensor. Hatch problem, I've no idea. Family members 1998 Grand Caravan has been infected with similar gremlins in the sliding doors. Best advice is to obtain a Chiltons/Haynes repair manual and go through the troubleshooting section.

SOURCE: 2000 Chevy Astro Van while driving just stops running

Hey I had my rotor and all that stuff replaced on my 2000 astro van, Intermittently it would not run, The problem was I hit a puddle one day and water flew up on top of the roter like 3 drops, it created a trace( it was arching) Thats why it was intermittent.Take a look at the cap look for like a discoloration on it clean it and put it back on.Sounds too easy but remember I had all new parts too.

SOURCE: how to install fuel pump in chevy 2003 astro van

Go to the autozone website at autozone.com and register your vehicle. It's free and will give you access to an online repair manual for your vehicle. The procedures for changing the fuel pump should be available there. Sure hope this helped and best wishes.

first check fuel pump and make sure fuel filter is not clogged up. Is your air filter clean? undo all ground wires to shiny clean and screw back tight. good luck.

When was last tune up? Plugs, wires, all fluids & filters especially fuel filter? I'd start there and run a good fuel system cleaner through it. Also avoid cheap fuel - lot of questionable fuel at cheap/cut rate stations.

Start with the simple and replace the fuel filter, a dirty fuel filter will also cause what you have described and a ICM (ignition control module) going bad will also do the same.

You can remove your ICM and have it tested free of charge at Auto Zone or Parts Source when you go and pick up the fuel filter. A bad ICM will cause your engine to stall out and eventually fail totally and your going to have a no engine run situation.

Sounds like dirty gas and the fuel filter is clogged...try changing the fuel filter...some are under the car, but most are mounted against the firewall in the engine compartment.
