Car wont start when I turn the key, although there is power getting to the fuse box under the dash, yet no power getting to the small black clip on wire on the starter motor solenoid. The car will start when the solenoid is bridged straight to the battery terminal. Cant find any relays or fuses between the fuse box and starter solenoid, am I missing something? What could be the problem? Please help.

Any chance your vehicles have a security/alarm system. Disconnecting battery on some, will arm it sometimes & not allow it to run. Using key to unlock door, on driver & passenger side have been known to work on some vehicles, but if not, a call to dealer should help.

Then the next thing to check is the starter itself, are you hearing any popping noises from the base of the motor? The starter should not be hard to change. Once you pull it out you can take it to the autozone and they can test it for you. The starter solenoid may be bad also, but these are normally attached to the starter. I hope this helps give you some insight.

SOURCE: battery good power to the starter 2000 ford

#1 Try starting the car in Neutral, if no start replace the Park and Neutral safty switch. #2 Check for a faulty starter solenoid. #3 Check for a faulty stsrter motor. #4 Check for a faulty ignition switch. #5 Check for faulty starter Relays.#6 Check the Transmission Range sensor it could be out of adjustment or defective. #7 On 1998 and later models, the power relay is in the power distribution box in the engine compartment. Refer to your owners manual for more information on relay location. Good Luck From Ernie @ RedDeer, Alberta, Canada.

Hello! The Inhibitor relay is more than likely not pulling...If the vehicle is an automatic the selector switch passes battery when in park on a yellow wire to the relay...If a standard the clutch switch passes ground...if manual, relay is called clutch interlock...located under hood...passenger side fender...Automatic...called interlock relay...drivers side fender to the right of air intake...diagram may be to small to read but I'm limited on size...Light Green wire on clutch switch supplies ground when switch is closed pulling relay...Yellow wire off gear selector switch (park) supplies battery to the inhibitor relay...Wish I knew if your vehicle was man. or auto...See if proper batt. or gnd. is present to pull relay...If proper potential is present and the relay does not pull it is defective...Send a comment...

I bought a key for a Cadillac 2006 CTS .I can't put it in park and can't get it to start.can't get key out please help derrick

If you have power in the car (lights and dash are working), then the anti-theft system has probably been activated - this can happen if the key has not been programmed properly or is not correct for this car, and you will have to get a dealer to reset it. If you have no power, check the battery and all fuses.

Is there a relay for fuel pump or fuse is so were is it located?

Most vehicles have a fuse and a fuel pump relay. The relay should be in the fuse/relay block under the hood, maybe called the Power Distribution Box or Center. Look for a cover over it with labeling of locations on the underside of the cover.

The fuse for the pump circuit is often there, too, although sometimes the fuse will be in the fuse panel below the dash. And GM cars often had another fuse panel in or under the glove box.

This would all be found in the owner's manual.

92 plymouth voyager wont start and nothing work the windows wont go down the lock and unlock button does nothing idk what the problem is i had the battery tested and the battery is fine what would cause...

Nothing works? How about the headlights, do they work? If yes, then start checking all fuses in the Power Distribution Center or Box under the hood. If no, then look for a bad maxi-fuse in the PDC, and check for a bad fusible link between the battery and the PDC. The battery positive cable goes to the starter, but a pigtail lead off the positive would go to the PDC, to distribute power to all the various circuits on the car.
When you turn the key to on, does the dash light up? If yes, at least power is getting to, and going through the ignition switch. One could then check for power on the starter solenoid wire when key was held in crank or start position.
If nothing when turning key to on-no dash lights, nothing-then check for an ignition fuse in the PDC. If fuse is good check for power being available at the ignition switch connector. If no power there, check wiring between PDC and the ignition switch-if power is up to the switch, but nothing happens with key on, no dash or warning lights, then could have a bad ignition switch.
It just sounds like a maxi-fuse has blown, or a bad fusible link. Good luck.

Car wont restart

Hello there and welcome to fixya
You may also want to check the fuel pump relay fuse that is in the fuse box under the hood it is a black square relay if you look at the cover it tells you what relay and fuse goes where so what i do is to find that fuse then pull it out then ill take the one for the air conditioner and swap it out with the one for the fuel pump then turn the key to on for 30 seonds then off then after 10 seconds turn it back on and attempt to start
Also be advised you also have a another fuse for the ignition system that you are going to want to check so i advise to carefully check all of the fuses both under the dash and under the hood i have saved my customers a lot of money by having them check this ok
Hope this helps best regards Michael

Car wont start totally dead lights and power work no radio though

Check fuse # 8 -20 amp and look for the starter relay. The fuses and relays are in a black box under the hood near battery. The lid of the box will tell you every fuse and relay. There should be a spare fuse in the box or take one from another circuit and try to start the car0996b43f8022dd2d.gif

My 2002 pt cruiser wont starts and it act likes the battery is dead, but it isnt. what could be the problem?

check battery connections1st check all fuses under dash and under hood in the black box. it will have main fuses in the one under the hood. next is the starter itself, with the key on and headlights on, when you turn key to start, do headlights go dim? pointing to bad starter if not. are you sure the transmission is in the park position? have you added a security to your car lately? try manually with a key to lock and unlock the doors. has your car been stored for a long time? the computer may have to be flased by the dealer, cost$85.00 and tow in. hope this helps and thank you for choosing fixya.com

Can you tell me of where the main fuse box is in this car. We did find one and that was under the dash but where is the other one at? I know that there is 2 fuse boxes

There is usually a higher powered fuse box under the hood.It is probably a black box, about 6 inces by 6inches,and may have some fuse ratings listed on top,but not always. It is just clipped down.Greg

Won't start, clicks and says fuse

Hi,

When the dash display read 'fuse' it indicates that the Ignitition Off Draw fuse is not installed or is blown. The fuse is used when the car is in storage (or sitting on the car lot) so that you can disconnect all loads that would cause the battery to go dead over time. The odomoter displays fuse to remind the dealer to install it before delivering the car to the customer.

It is located in the fuse panel under the hood. It's easy to miss because it's in a small black plastic clip that you can pull up to disconnect the fuse, without removing it completely.

It should be labeled on the lid of the fuse box as IOD. It powers up the interior lights, along with the radio and a few other things. It most commonly get's blown during installation of aftermarket radios, etc.
