First thing to check is the gas cap, make certain it is tight and the cap seal is not damaged or cut. In many cases this is the root cause for the P0455.
If that checks good, you want to check the vacuum hoses from the EVAP purge solenoid under the hood, all the way back to the EVAP canister. Make certain all are connected and not damaged or cracked.
Let me know.

po455 could actually be a loose or deffective gas cap
SOURCE: Evap Emissions Leak
This can be because the Gas cap is not holding the pressure. I would start there first.

check to make sure the gas cap has been installed tightly, and also that it is the correct cap for the vehicle.

these are hard to diagnose. First trace evap hose from fuel tank to evap cannister. Check for cracks in hose or loose connections. Check out cannister for cracks. Also check hose from cannister to intake manifold. If hoses are good, it may be leaky purge valve. Hope this helps.

Here is what you do, your rubber vacuum hoses under the hood (where the inspection station will clamp off during test) replace the rubber vacuum lines with solid plastic lines but dont leave any room for them to be able to clamp it off, they CANNOT clamp your hard lines because they'll break them so they'll just skip that part and low and behold....you should pass your emmission testing. Good luck.
The converter is not part of the evap.
The gas cap "0" ring seal is
Charcoal canister is
Hose out the charcoal canister, valve, and hoses to the intake is, and hoses to the fuel tank.
Depending on where they set off the smokeys, the smoke could have went in the intake manifold, thru a cylinder, thru the exhaust, out the tail pipe.
I would verify the valve opens and closes, and that the signal voltage and valve activate and deactivate.
Some evap systems include a pump that tests for leaks and warn when evap is not holding pressure.
