Both passenger & driver windows did not restore to their closed position when doors were opened then closed. Drivers window fixed itself but passenger window won't reurn to "Up" position, it keeps going down when door handle operated.
Any answers would be greatfully received...
Same thing has happened on mine!
The solution is to reprogram the window limits. You need to sit in the car with doors shut! Turn the key in ignition in position I or II, roll down the window all the way and keep holding the switch for 5 seconds, then roll the window up and again keep the switch pressed for 5 seconds, repeat same steps for other door.
Reprogramming is also described in the owners manual. I don't know how mine became deprogrammed, should only happen if the battery is disconnected!
Bill man is right. with doors closed open window and continue to hold switch in position and count to ten, then close window and continue to hold switch in position and count to ten. Do both windows this way. I had the same problem when my battery went dead.
It is just a problem of having lost the position memory of the windows.
Does not need any repair but a resetting process of the Electronic Central Unit that controls the setting of windows motors.
That is why in any maintenance operation that will require to disconnect the battery you will have to leave the doors opened

Try operating window to bottom position and hold switch down for a few seconds.
This cured it on my one

the same as posted both windows do not return to closed position when door closed again XK8 2002 model
Many thanks to all, worked a treat.....
This is the normal function of the Jaguar XK8 convertibles cars, door windows. Each time you pull up on the outside door handle the window will automatically lower by about a inch. The reason for this design is to clear the door glass from the convertible top once you open your door. Once the doors are shut the door glass automatically goes up about another inch, sealing the door glass behind the convertible tops soft top edge. If it never dropped about a inch you would not be unable to open the cars door. If you ever keep pulling the outside door handle up before shutting the door it will keep lowering the door glass with each pull.
To reset the windows get in your car and shut both doors. Start car and let it run while in park and foot off gas. Now push the interior door window switch down until the window goes all the way down. Once all the way down it will make a beeping sound. It may take a second or two before it beeps. Stop pushing down once you hear the down beep. Now while still sitting in car with it still in park and running push window switch up until window fully closes and again it will make a beep sound. Once it beeps from up or down quit pushing the interior door window switch. After this is done the windows are now reprogrammed to know full up and full automatic down positions. Do the same now for the passenger side. After fully up beeps and fully down beeps you are done. You may have to redo this from time to time if by mistake you grab the outside door handle too many times. A simple painless fix.
