If the oil light is on it's one of 2 things: You have no oil pressure, or the sending unit (also known as the oil pressure switch) is defective and is reading no pressure when there actually is normal pressure. You should always assume it means no pressure, because driving it this way will ruin the engine.

turn the key on for at least 20 mins or so, the security light should stop flashing. This is very common for these cars. turning the key on and leaving it on for 20 mins resets the security system. When the "security system" on these cars activates, all it does is shut the electric signal to the fuel injectors off, the fuel pump still kicks on and you still have spark, but the injectors dont shoot fuel. If the turning on for 20 mins dont work, you will likely need a whole new ignition, and you take the inside out of yours and put it in the new one so you re-use your key. hope this helps

SOURCE: check tire pressure light reset, 1999 Grand AM

Pop the fuse panel cover off the driver side fuse box, you have to open the door to get to it. With the key in the ignition and in the "ON" position, hold down the button in the fuse box that says "reset". The Tire Pressure or Oil Change light will start to blink, let go and push it one more time and the light will go off.

How do u clear the code of change oil light on a 1999 grand am

on the drivers side end of the dash there is a removable panel that sometimes says fuses on it. You will need to have the door open to remove it. Once it is off you will see a red reset button. Turn the key on. push the reset button one time, the change oil light should start to blink. if not press it again. Once the change oil light is blinking press and hold the reset button for about 10 seconds. an audible tone will beep three or four times and the light will go out.

Resetting Procedure

To reset the CHANGE OIL SOON indicator if equipped with the Driver Information Center (DIC).

  1. Turn the ignition to ON without starting the engine.
  2. Fully press and release the accelerator pedal three times within five seconds.
    • If the CHANGE OIL SOON indicator flashes two times, the system is resetting. Turn the ignition key to OFF then start the vehicle.
    • If the CHANGE OIL SOON indicator comes on and stays on, repeat the procedure.
To reset the OIL LIFE indicator if equipped with a Trip Computer.

  1. Press the trip MODE button until the light appears next to OIL LIFE.
  2. Press and hold the trip RESET button until the oil life percentage changes to 100%.
Hope this helps Ill look into the ABS lights but I do believe that you will need a scan tool to retreive a code to be able to diagnose the reason for the lights
