Did you try an ignition module? This could be your problem.Make sure you have good compression.

My 1990 Legacy just died too. Turned a corner, and the engine just quit. No traffic luckily, but it won't start anymore. It tries to turn over, but never does. The engine does move while the starter does try to turn it over, which should be an indication that the timing belt is still intact. I've been told that if the timing belt were broken, the starter would just simply whirl. Ohm reading on coil packs secondaries check out, couldn't test the primarys yet, as I haven't been able to disconnect the connector. Disconnected the fuel line after the filter, and gas flowed in a good solid stream, didn't fly out with tons of pressure, but flowed. More checks on the way. Tried reading the check engine codes but didn't get any flashes yet, maybe have the proceedure wrong.
Any advice greatly appreciated!!!
Thanks
