Hi
I would have the alternator checked as the heater takes a lot of battery power it sounds like the alternator is struggling to run the car and the heater at the same time
my monterosport 2001 runs great till you come to a stop sign the rpms drop and it dies start it back up revs itself and rpms drop and it dies. we can start it up rev it and it clearsup and idles but later on when you come to a stop it dies again we have cleaned the egr valave and still same thing could the tps be the problem or what?
If this goes away after warming up and driving for a while, dont worry about it .Its moisture that seeps in as exhaust system cools down, then when you start up water trapped in muffler boils off.
Did they test the output only, 13.5 to 14v if it was all that was tested there are two other possibilitys that the alternator needs testing for Voltage regulation which will fry a battery (over charge and cells collapse)or the diodes have failed which will flatten a battery overnight.
Our 2001 mitsubishi montero xls ran hot and blew a head gasket. We just got it back and it rus great but has a little shimey or puttin when we are sitting at a light,as if it is idle to low.Put it in park and it runs smoother. Idle sensor or throttle sensor got damaged from the heat? Not sure...just thinking out loud! Any other suggestions?
