Jetta no longer makes beeping sound when locked.

When I lock my 2004 Volkswagen Jetta using the remote control, it does not make a *beep* sound. This has been happening ever since the car had been involved in an accident. When it was returned to me, I had noticed this problem. The amber lights flash, and the red alarm light functions correctly, however the distinct muffled honk is missing.

Thanks for the reply. Well I forgot to mention that the problem is not constant. At one point the horn sounded, and suddenly stopped. This was after the accident. Also, I've checked and replaced my fuses for the central locking system and comfort control system. I've also read that the horn will only sound if all the doors are properly closed. None of the above have worked.

the alarm has its own horn. it does not use the horn that is triggered by your steering wheel. it could be the alarm horn itself, wiring issue due to accident, and, if any control module replaced (comfort control module). i can't remember if there is a fuse for that. feel free to respond if needed.

Can I ask what was the final resolution? I have 04 Jetta, and the same issue.

Try honking the horn normally with horn button <key must be on> if horn works it is in the programing for comfort and convieniance system if no honk it's just the horn or wiring to horn.

Reset computer

If you pushed the car by the door itself or swung the door open hard, you could ha e stretched the door harness and pulled wires apart. There is a little accordian styled boot that 'protects, the wire loom leading to the driver door electronics. I wonder if you have noticed your alarm horn doesnt beep when locking the doors from the remote. Or you can only lock and unlock the driver door only from the driver door. If thats the case there may be an open in the wires leading to the door lock actuator; which controls things like lock/unlock functions of all doors and windows, door warning lights, etc. Have the harness repaired

Hi...we just replaced the battery in my 99 Toyota 4runner Limited. Now when I use the remote key to unlock or lock the vehicle it no longer makes the beep horn sound. The remote itself still works to lock...

The aftermarket remote starter probably reset. Do you have the instruction manual for it? You should be able to run it through the initial 'start up' options and set the horn to beep for you.

Door lock 2004 jetta wagen

If remote locks and unlocks driver door but does not unlock passenger doors, then follow the advice above:
Get in the car using the key to unlock the doors. From the passenger side lock and unlock your doors using the button on the passenger door. Get out and the remote should now unlock all the doors with 2 presses.
Worked perfectly for me after several other suggestions (and dealer) failed.

Remote horn beep

Did you check with the other remote? If you have the same pb, I would say the alarm control box is not working properly anymore.Or the control lost its programation.
