Code error P1361 Honda CIvic LX 2002 -- What it really means? Appear Check engine light intermitent. In my case after Timing belt, water pump, tensor, oil seals and spark replacement. Car lose power and just run at 20 MPH. After 15 to 20 minutes with the engine off, it starts normal and 5 minutes later turn off the check engine light

Since the problem is intermitent, and occur beweekly; it does not sound as the belt is not lined up properly.

The car in the morning with engine cool start just by turning on the ingnition... I will go to verify the sensor wiring circuit, or replace the sensor. (If the sensor need to be replaced, I will verify the timing anyway).

Get the troubleshuting step from a civic forum.

    Thanks a lot

2002 honda civic lx 1.7L Engine starts runs fine for under 5 mins than all the sudden it lacks power and backfires. Like it's only using one or two cylinders. I can cut it off and it starts right up and runs fine, but in less than 5 mins it drops power bogs down, has no power what so ever, it will back fire if I give it too much gas. and it cuts off.

P1361 TDC Sensor Intermittent Interruption (I got this from Engine-Light-Help.com)
TDC should mean Top Dead Center.
It is the sensor that tells the computer the #1 cylinder piston is at the very top. And therefore, fires the spark plug.

Since the maintenance done above, I believe the the timing marks for the timing belt is not lined up properly. Being off by one tooth will cause this problem.

Honda civic feria 2002 P1361

Here is what the code for that says. I would just recommend changing that sensor first to see if it will fix the issue completely. You'll need to disconnect your battery after you change the sensor. This will help your computers reset correctly, and more efficiently.

Pushing coolant back into reservoir at high RPM is a sign of a leaking head gasket. It's pushing exhaust gas into the coolant. P0600 Serial Communication Link Malfunction

Getting code p1361 on my 99 civic. what is the problem and how do you fix it?

Code P1361 = Intermittent Interruption In TDC 1 Sensor Circuit

Turns out Top Dead Center (TDC) sensor was bad. Yours is too.

This sensor in located behind the timing chain cover on my 2001 civic. You have to take the cover off to get to it. Honda dealer wanted $360 in labor to change the sensor. Because it was in the same the location Honda would have changed my timing chain for no extra labor charge. So I went to the Honda dealer and got the sensor ($56) and went to the auto parts store and got a timing chain, water pump, and new belts. Local mechanic changed all these parts for $160 in labor (others wanted $230). $130 for the sensor and timing chain and $30 more for the pump. I probably could have hacked that timing chain cover off myself but that is what thought would happen. A hack job. And it was time for a new chain anyway. 92 plus degrees outside and the civic is running fine.

Good luck (remember rated this post).

My honda civic 98, had a check light engine ON P1361 and P1399

P1361 is an intermittent signal from the TDC sensor .. thats located under the top timing belt cover on the right side of the engine .. about half way down that cover is the connector for the TDC sensor .. check that connector and its wiring ...P1399 is an ignition problem .. and thats likely caused by the TDC sensor being intermittent .. you might be able to fix the connector if its loose or full of water but the sensor is hard to get to .. very tight place to work in but not impossible .. this is something that should be fixed soon .. no emergency but the timing may drift off if the problem persists ..

How to change water pump on a honda civic year 1999 lx

These water pumps are integral with the timing belt you must replace the timing belt with the water pump because the leaking water pump and antifreeze on the timing belt causes deterioration of rubber belt thereby causing imminent failure of timing belt destroying valves $$$ google" interference engine" for an explanation of interference engine

1998 Prelude VTEC P1361 code, what's the most likely failure.

Need a clear question and better info. However, based on the little that was posted...

Code P1361 is ignition coil circuit low. You'll have to do some electrical troubleshooting to locate the cause.

Low oil will also can also result in the oil pressure sending unit cutting power to fuel pump relay. This is done to prevent engine damage due to low oil.

Timing chain maintenance

It's actaully a timing belt, not a chain. But the mileage recommendation i believe is 60,000 or 90,000 miles.

2003 Honda Civic -LX Timing belt

90000 Miles on the Timing Belt. Do not let this go! A timing belt failure can cause internal engine problems.

Should cost around 200 or so, depending upon your local labor rates.

Good Luck!
