The car seems to have functioning parts but it is probably a wiring issue - have you done a heater core replacement or anything under the dash/hood in a while (other than "tapping on the starter" <-- which you shouldnt do by the way)

what year is it??

if it is a 1990 the car has a plug undone under the driver side steering column on the "security" and "ignition" wiring circuit - read your FSM (factory service manual) and diagnose the problem. it is definately a short somewhere!

Dont worry about responding - I wont provide any more support - what you did is distasteful - dont come asking for help and then when your told advice you rebuttle everything.

"if it is a 1990 the car has a plug undone under the driver side steering column on the "security" and "ignition" wiring circuit - read your FSM (factory service manual) and diagnose the problem. it is definately a short somewhere!"

Read what i said, its a wiring short. This is a place for people actually trying to fix their problems not "what could it be" if your not gonna atleast try, maybe you should sell your car and buy something with a Dealer warranty for your lifetime.

Seriously, grow up dude, i provide help and you provide disrespect - your a wanna-be

    Here is what you checked:

Check battery, starter, fuses and relays, spark plugs

    Here is what you havent!

Wiring Harness, ecu, injectors, distributor, coil, distributor rotor, cam shaft, timing belt, fuel filter, fuel pump,

The information you provided means nothing, its not about what you have checked - its about the symptoms. And this statement:

"Secuirty light keeps flashing on and off even when i shut the door."

Means nothing - the 300zx has a standard security system that will always flash - hence the reason for the light - so it scares off potential theives.

Your a disrespectful punk, get a book and do it on your own.

"the grounds look like they are good but just can find the short or whats not causing it not to start help will be appreciated thanks!!!!"

Neither can anyone on the web - You, a complete IDIOT of a mechanic, have to search for the short by using either a test light (if you know what that is, or how to use it) or a voltometer to find the short.

Man dude, your really ******* dense, ya know that? Seriously - generic help.. yeah thats why i've rebuilt more 300zx's than how many pennys you have in the bank. If you came to my shop i would laugh at you and send you packing because it would be a waste of my time to take your money for a ground problem as simple as that.

Take appreciation in your own car and find the ******* problem using a FSM and a voltometer.

    K thx

    http://www.aacap.org/cs/root/child_and_a...

    Their help:

    (None)

The help your going to get

    ,,i,, <-- a middle finger

    My help:

Quit posting, you know the problem, finding a solution isnt going to come from the web, every car is different - oh by the way... your STILL talking mad ****, so being as this is now a flame section-

Quit posting incomplete sentences, You have completely dumb-founded me, im suprised you have been able to check the battery "Oh my god! Pleesh helb me cuz i can find a battery" <-- aka you = a wanna be. You have done nothing but pissed me off, so in return im here to make sure that this page is completely flooded with helpful information that you dont want to use. That way, when someone comes in here and goes "take 1 step to the front of the car from the drivers door, look down 7'', put hand behind tire and feel for a blue wire" you wont be able to find it. Don't worry, im doing your forgetful *** a favor. THIS IS THE INTERNET! We dont see or hear anything about what your doing to your car other than what you say you do.

    SO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Here:

Lets have you walk in to a professional auto shop in your town and say the following:

"My name is (your name here), i own a 300zx but i dont know the year of it, the check engine light keeps coming on and off like it should - but now my car wont start, i hit the starter repeatedly and it worked for a day. After that it didnt, so i checked the Checked battery, starter, fuses and relays, and the spark plugs but i cant find whats wrong. So - heres $ 10.00 with your god-like abilities, tell me what to do to fix this problems. See into my mind and know what is wrong with my car"

... OMG wow you read all that, atleast you graduated kindergarden... mad props - now go work on your car rather than wasting your time looking for an answer you wont get

This happened to me and I remembered reading something in the owners manual about
resetting or disarming the alarm and so I got out of the car, shut the door and used my key
to re-open the door (the door was already unlocked) but using the key in the door is what reset
my car and I started it up no problem after that.

I have 2001 pt cruiser wont start or crank I got a new battery and starter still wont start it all

Marco, check under the hood in the fuse box for the starter relay. You may be able to swap it with one like it if it has the same numbers on it just to see if it cranks over.

MIGHT BE A RELAY ! LOCATED UNDER HOOD, YOU SHOULD SEE RELAY BOX NEXT TO BATTERY. MAKE SURE BATTERY TERMINALS ARE CLEANED, PUT SOME VASOLINE ON TERMINALS, RECONNECT, TIGHTEN. CHECK ALL GROUND WIRES. ARELAY BOX MAY ALSO BE LOCATED NEXT TO POWER STEERING . COULD HAVE A FAULTY SOLONOID@ STARTER, IGNITION SWITCH COULD ALSO BE FAULTY, ITS NEVER EASY TO PINPOINT ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS, PROCESS OF ALIMINATION, CHECK ALL STARTING CIRCUIT SYSTEMS, IS YOUR SHIFT LEVER ALL THE WAY IN PARK ? DOES ENGINE CRANK ? OR DEAD, NO POWER ? ARE YOU GETTING SPARK ? HOW ABOUT FUEL ? DID YOU REPLACE BOTH THE AIR &FUEL FILTERS ? THE STARTER / SOLONOID IS WHAT CRANKS THE ENGINE, I THINK YOUR PROBLEM IS THERE ! REPLACE RELAY TO STARTING SYSTEM, ARE YOUR SPARK PLUG WIRES NEW ! THEY WILL SHORT OUT ANY SPARK IF OLD, DIRTY, I SUGGEST A TUNEUP, NEW FILTERS, AND REPLACE STARTER/SOLONOID !!!!!!

Cranks but doesnt start

I am a self emplyed mechanic, if a motor cranks but does not start, that is not a starter, you need to see if you have gas or spark . is there a buzzing in the gas tank when you turn the key. if so then you have gas. now you needto see if you have spark. need 2 people to do this . pull a spark plug wire and stick a screw drive in the boot and crank the motor please stand back, and look for spark. if you have spark. then you need a crank position sensor thank you ted

My 99 Gmc jimmy will not start. the fuel pump is good the fuel filter is not clogged, i replaced the neutral safety switch, plugged in my code reader no codes, i believe it is the starter or the ignition...

Does it crank or not? If no crank then look at the starter or ignition switch. If crank but no start then look at the ignition system. Check for spark at the plugs and also check the fuel pressure. If there is spark try spraying a little starting fluid into the intake. See if it starts and stays running. If it stays running reply back and I will explain why.

1999 ford contour that wont crank

You mean wont CRANK or CRANKS but WONT RUN???? 4 cyl or V6 auto or manual trans????????? The 8th VIN digit would be most helpful as there are 4 different engines for that car. Its really cheaper to check items before you replace them. The starter should have a smaller BLACK wire that should have power on it when trying to crank the car. You say it wont crank, then check the neutral switch on the trans. Try putting it in neutral to start it. If it has a manual trans, the clutch switch on the pedal may be bad. There is a starter relay in the fuse box under the hood that powers the starter, does it click if you turn the key to start? if it does then the relay is at least trying to work, but doenst mean the contacts inside are good, If it does not click, then the neutral switch may be bad.Check the BLACK/YELLOW wire at the trans switch, if it has power on it, the switch may be bad, ground that (Black/Yellow)wire and see if it cranks. I dont know if there are any other relays in the fuse box that you can swap for the starter relay for test purposes.

Car wont start

Fuel delivery must be confirmed with a fuel pressure gauge on this vehicle. Disconnecting the fuel line and cranking the engine to see fuel shooting out does not confirm pressure, it only confirms fuel delivery. Remember you need both fuel delivery and pressure. On this vehicle if the psi is off by just one number that's enough to keep it from starting. Also replacing the coil and rotor (as you stated) does not confirm that spark is reaching the plugs. Confirm that both spark and adequate fuel pressure are reaching ALL the spark plugs.
