2012 Corolla S, built in 05/12, 14K miles. "Maint Reqd" lamp came on steady about 4200 miles into last oil change. It did not blink first at start up, just abruptly came on steady while driving on a trip. I tried the same procedure as on our 2006 Corolla S and while holding the odometer post in I turned the key to the run position and the lamp will not clear. I tried this repeatedly holding the Odo post for over a minute with no change. I read something that if the previous maint codes were not properly cleared this could cause a problem? Any thoughts/

Re: Problem Resetting 2012 Corolla S Maint Reqd light
Turn the key on, set the trip meter to trip A, push and hold the button in, turn the key off and back on, wait for the odometer display to come back.
If not success try trip B instead.

You usually need to have the vehicle taken to the dealership so they can perforn the required maintenence. The light being on doesnt mean that there is a problem with anything, it means that the computer knows how many miles are on the car in relation to the manufacturers maintenence schedule. If you absolutely believe you have fixed the problem you can attempt to turn the light off by disconnecting the negative battery cable for 10-15 minutes so the capasitors can discharge. If the computer determines that the maintenence item is not taken care of it will turn the light back on and you will need to take it to Toyota. I hope this helps you, if so would you please mark as solved and leave a rating?
Put the ignition key on , using trip meter button switch display to odometer.
Switch ignition key off.
Press and hold trip meter button , switch the key on ,
continue to hold button for at least 5 sec.
Display indicates " 000000 " and " MAINT REQD " lamp will go off , resetting is complete.
Its for an oil change and the way you reset it is put the trip on odometer hold the trip odometer button and turn the key to the on position and lines will blink in the place the numbers should be then it will go off
The 'Maint Reqd' light indicates that you are due for an oil change. It will blink 4,500 miles since the light was reset at your last oil change, and stay on steady after 5,000 miles.
If you recently had an oil change, all you need to do is reset your maintenance reqd lamp. The procedure is here on this site inthe 'tips and tricks' section, and it is also in your owner's manual.
To disable this light without unplugging the battery:
1. Start the car. 2. Place odometer on Trip A 3. Turn car off 4. Place your finger and hold the odometer trip button 5. Turn key to the "on" position while holding the trip button; not "acc" 6. Wait until the computer reset finishes 7. The maint reqd light will turn off
To reset the system. Turn the ignition key to the "OFF" position with the odometer reading shown.
Turn the ignition key to the "ON" position while holding down the trip meter reset knob. Hold down the knob for at least 5 seconds. The odometer indicates "000000" and the light goes off. If the system fails to reset, the light will continue flashing.
That is for oil changes. It come on when the oil change is due.
When you have your oil change done, the lube tech should reset the this light every time.
