My 1998 gmc k2500 5.7 engine is hard to start when hot, it starts fine 1st thing in the morn then will crank alot after warmed up. no codes set, fuel pressure is 60+, put a new fuel pump in 3 weeks ago.
Is the base fuel pressure the same hot when it is cold, and so is the spark weak when the engine is hot ?
Testimonial: "fuel pressure is always 60+ has new ac delco plugs wires and cap-rotor"
fuel pressure is always 60+ hot or cold, spark is strong, also tried a crank pos sensor to no help
also truck runs great after it starts, it seems to take 3 times to crank it over before it starts
That sounds like low fuel pressure such as the pressure draining off back into the tank, but it that were the case it should be hard to start cold too. It has to be fuel or spark. If you know for a fact fuel pressure is psi BEFORE you crank it hot, it would have to be a spark problem such as a weak coil or module. What would happen if you sprayed carb cleaner into the throttle body before you cranked it ? That would tell you for sure if it does not have enough fuel.
Another possible cause would be a venting problem with the gas tank. You could have fuel pressure but very little volume. Once the engine starts the computer vents the tank to the vapor canister.

Hey there boatright33,
A few things things immediately come to mind.
There may be a problem with the engine controller. You could check the
ODBII onboard diagnostics. Auto part stores will usually do this for
you at no cost.
When you pulled the ones that were/went bad, how did the filters look? Could there be particulate matter still in the tank causing them to fail.
I always put this one off until last. Check the injectors. Are they gummed up?
Let me know what you find out

Any suggestions?

that has a votec engine in it the fuel pressure is droping at knight and it takes 60 psi before the injectors will fire most likely cause fuel pump ,leaking injector ,or a feul pressure regulator
