Faulty turn signals 98 vw GTI

When I turn on my turn signals they work fine if the headlights are off and the brakes are not engaged. If I turn on the headlights or engage the brakes the turn signals will stop working. This does not happen all the time. There are other times where everything will work fine. Any thoughts?

Rear brakelights and turn signals do not work

The turn signal and brake lights are controlled by the turn signal switch.
You did not mention parking lights so I will assume they work.

Could be a faulty turn signal switch or a wiring problem between the dash and the rear of the van.

How do i tighten my emergercy brake after i've changed my brakes on my 2005 vw gti 1.8t

pull up your e-brake boot and the carpet under it, you will see where the 2 cables hook up to the lever. that is where you adjust it, adjust it until the brake just starts to engage on the 3rd click of the ratchet.

I have a vw golf gti. P reg 1996. recently it has

Hi Frank
If as you say....Nothing is happening at all when you turn the key, you appear to have one of two problems. A faulty starter motor--or--- A faulty ignition switch. If you can tap the starter motor while another person keeps the key turned to the start position, and the engine now starts you now know it is a starter problem. When doing this PLEASE MAKE SURE THE VEHICLE IS OUT OF GEAR.
If it should start up, or even engage the starter motor while IN GEAR, serious injuries could happen, and I do not mean to your car.
Good luck

1991 vw golf gti- RPM stop working!

judging by the amount of km it has done i would say the rpm drive is faulty, this measures the amount of rotation in the camshaft and shows the "revolutions per minute". when this goes faulty it stops the read out on the dial, so you want to be looking for a device that measures the speed that the engine is turning, if you have, replace it and it should solve the problem
