03 mercedes c230 how to test the cooling fan that have 4 wires

All you need to do to test all the fan controls is disconnect the ECT (engine coolant temp.) sensor on the engine, that will turn on the cooling fans by default. Remember the fans seldom run, the engine temperture must reach around 230F before the computer turns them on.

Mercedes Benz GL320 fan turns on after car is turned off. Stays running until your turn the key but you do not have to turn the engine over for it to stay off

On most modern vehicles the engine cooling fans are electric. These fans are thermostatically controlled and will continue to run even after the vehicle is turned off and until the engine cools down. If you feel the fan is running an excessively long time after you turn off the vehicle, I would recommend you have it looked at by the dealer.
Good luck.

The car is completly turned off - but something still running under the hood fan or generator what should i do

On some cars, BMWs in particular the water is circulated in the heating system. Also some cars will continue to run the cooling fan. It turns off after a few minutes.

When I turn the engine off the engine cooling fan stays on and does not shut off

depending on the engine temperature the fan is supposed to remain on after you turn the engine off, until the engine reaches a preset cooler temperature. when it reaches cooler temperature usually within 5 minutes or so it should cut off... if you cut it off and it is running 30 minutes later.. then there is a problem with the fan relay or temperature sending unit.

2005 volkswagon jetta cooling fan wont turn off

temp switch fail most likely. fail safe keeps fan running so engine will not overheat. temp switch will be screwed into engine block. may be cover by cover, hoses or something else but pretty easy to replace. DO COLD for the sensor is in the collant port of the engine and will leak a little when changing. Good luck hope this helps.

Ensure vehicle is on level ground first!
Open bonnet, put in gear, take hand brake off and rock vehicle back and forth whilst watching belts or something like the alternator to see if this turns. If not there is a chance you siezed the engine when it overheated.

When you shut the car off something is staying on in the vehicle, causing a current draw on the battery, causing it to go dead over night. something that would cause this would be like a under the hood light, trunk light, interior light staying on. visually check it. and if you don't find anything you might want to buy a fluke/ volt meter, to check for unwanted current draw when the vehicle is off. your local mechanic could help. it could become more extensive then this but most likely not by the sounds of it.

Automatic fan is not on

The coolant sensor from top of the engine near the air filter, not the one in the back of the engine, will turn the fan on when it indicates temperature hot or open. Take off the connector when the engine running then the fan should turn. If it is the case then the fan motor is good. All you have to do is to replace the coolant sensor.
