Turn signal stays on

On a steering wheel are 2 pins. These pins turn the signals off as the wheel returns from making a left or right hand turn. They reset the blinker mechanism by bumping the blinker arm and pushing the arm back to the center position. You can sometimes see these little pins that reset the blinker if you look between the steering wheel and the steering wheel column. There is a little gap where the steering wheel is enabled to turn with out rubbing the column. You will also see a circular copper plate in there where the horn makes electrical contact by a little flat tension arm and rubs the copper surface as the wheel spins in either direction.
To repair a damage blinker pin, the steering wheel most likely has to be pulled off and the pin repaired and steering wheel returned back onto the column. Not a big job at all, just more of a pain then anything. Some steering wheels are on pretty tight on their splines and a puller may be needed. If the pins are still intact in the back of the steering wheel, then the blinker mechanism has a problem and is not be triggered to return to center by the pins.

Turn signals

not sure what year/model nissan you have, but all pretty much work the same. the blinker lever slides across a spring-loaded detent. when you move it up or down, the detent falls in a knotch. there is a ring on the steering column that will release the detent pressure when it passes, releasing the lever back to neutral. most commonly it is in the blinker assy, that there is a broken peice.

I cant turn the ignition or move the steering wheel on my 2003 nissan altima. When I insert the key I get the usual sound but I cant turn the key at all, and the steering wheel seems like its stuck.

i think there is a ignition problem , might try replacing it , of course you cant turn the steering if the key wont turn , its a theft prevention device.

Left turn signal will not turn off no matter what

You probably need to look in the tube under the steering wheel to check the mechanical action of the turn signal switch. If this car has a steering wheel air-bag, then disconnect one terminal of the battery and let sit for 5 minutes to discharge the arming mechanism for the air bag. Look for screw holes under the wheel to release the air bag. Mark the steering post and wheel with matching points from a center punch to get the wheel back on centered properly. The clicking noise that you hear is normal when the signal is ON.

Blinker lever not automatically disengaging

You need to use a "steering wheel puller" to remove the steering wheel. You will not gain access to the turn signal switch without the steering wheel removed.

My Key is stuck in my 1997 Pontiac grand am and wont come out. How can we get it out?

does it move at all ? if it does turn it to the on position and back a couple of times. Then turn it to off. press in on the key and move the steering wheel as much as you can. Then try to pull it off while moving the steering wheel as much as you can back and forth.until the key comes out.

Blinker/light stem fallen out of steering column

CENTER the steering wheel/wheels straight ahead. Remove the air bag using the proper Torx driver. Unplug the wiring connector. Using the proper socket, undo the big nut that holds the steering wheel on. Now, bang the steering wheel left/right/left/right hands until the steering wheel comes loose. Now, here is where it gets a little tricky. There is a round black circle with a yellow tag with red letters. Put tape on it to keep it from rotating right or left. Remove the 4 screws. DO NOT TURN THE ROUND THING. If you turn it, you may damage it. Now, remove the screws that hold on the headlamp switch. Unplug the connector & bolt in the new switch. Easy, as long as you do NOT move the setting on the round thing. This is the air-bag "clockspring".
