Need Break Booster Replaced

I need to know where the break booster/master cylinder is located on my 92 Dodge Caravan. It's like trying to stop the van without the engine running.I'm guessing that's the problem. The Pads are great,I have the Full break pedal it's just like trying to bend a street light over when trying to Stop.It takes a ton of pushing.

The brake booster/ naster cylinder is located on the firewall on the drivers side of the vehicle. The master cylinder has a resivour (sp) which has a cap and holds brake fluid. The brake booster is right behind that, the master cylinder is bolted right to the booster. The booster looks like a big circle about 10 to 12 inches round and usually 4 to 6 inches thick. It will have a vaccum hose coming off the booster and going to the intake manifold. The master cylinder with have hard lines coming off it which are brake lines. Hope this helps.

Kind of a late answer but check recalls, there was a recall on the abs components. just got mine fixed. with this bendix 10 system, there is absolutely no power assist when the abs fails.

Air noise when using break peddle in a 2002 Hyundai accent

The fluid leaking out the rear seal of the master cylinder has likely swelled/damaged the rubber diaphragm in your brake booster, causing the hissing sound. Unfortunately, you will need to replace your booster.

Break system boster . the part thats connected to the peadle has seal that is broken. i need to know the name of the part and how to replace it.

The name is exactly that "Brake Booster" To remove it: Remove the master cylinder assembly and vacuum hoses from the booster. On the interior side of the firewall you will have to unbolt the booster and disconnect the linkage attaching the pedal to the piston in the booster.

Van is hard to stop when you press on breaks. Break padel is very hard to push down when breaking. Wonder if there is some type of vaccum leak.

The vacuum booster is mounted on the fire wall behind the brake pedal. the master cylinder is mounted to it. there is a black hose that is connected to it. that is the vacuum hose. it goes to the intake manifold (engine). check to see if it has come off or is cracked or broken. if everything checks out check vacuum at the hose. if tis there then the diaphram in the booster is bad. replace the booster let me know if you need help with that

Stiffness of brakes and barley working

Double check the level in the master cylinder. If this is full the most probable is the vacuum booster. This is the large black cylinder directly behind the master cylinder which is operated by vacuum which when you apply mechanical pressure to the brake system, the vacuum assists you by pulling and making it easier to apply the brakes. If you can "stand" on the pedal and the vehicle stops, this is a most likely cause. 1 thing you can do to verify is to first locate the one and only vacuum line going to the booster and make sure there is no holes or no "hissing" caused by a vacuum leak. Let me know if you need further assistance or directions to replace.

Brakes

Your brake booster works off of engine vacuum. It's located behind the brake master cylinder. It may be the issue from what you describe.

Replaced pads and shoes as van would not stop now it still wont stop a noise is coming from the master cylynder in motor

Either the power booster has failed or the master is bad...If the noise sounds like air escaping, it's the booster.
